Missed a lot of great threads!! But I am back!!!

Settling into the house has been going well other then the heat pump is still having issues. I wonder how long the home warranty will keep throwing money on at before they just up and replace it. It is the biggest pain and stress right now.

However, I am down to only a handful of boxes left to unpack!!!! It would have taken longer without a big amount of help from many friends to make settling in possible. Also been tackling a lot of maintenance like gutter cleaning, washing the siding and retaking control of the yard which was not done by the previous owner.

We have also made our July 4th plans. The group (about 7 campers worth) have decided to go back to Burn Cabins, PA for 3 days of doing as little as possible. We like the campground for that reason, there is enough to do that you don't get bored and yet at the same time its not busy so you feel inclined to relax. Cowans Gap State park is only a few miles away with a public access beach and fresh water lake. We usually make a trip or two there during the heat of the day as a way to cool off.

The great part is that there is an 1800s operation grist mill on the property. They do tours every Sunday morning and its a hoot to go and see. They only run the mill in the cooler months and make their own flower mixes. They generally don't run it during the summer as the water levels are too low and the heat of grinding will mess up the grain (as interpreted by what was explained to me.)

I hope everyone has some great adventures this season!!!

You're going pretty quickly, jbrostek. You're ahead of the game.

A man after my own heart.

FIFY (fixed it for you).

That's neat. There is an old grist mill around us that grinds corn into meal about one or two weekends a year, also water powered. It is neat to see it ground, buy it, take it home, and cook with it. It helps remind us and bind us to the land.

Thanks for the updates!

I can do that sometimes, I think my fingers can work faster them my PC sometimes.

I love their pancake mix and usually buy 2 bags of it every time I go there!!! It really is a nice quiet little area that I enjoy because there is little to do and I enjoy just hanging out.

So we are now at a compressor for the 20 year old heat pump, home warranty wants to replace that rather then the system. However, now my out of pocket is for the R22 refrigerant (15# worth) at 85 a pound. Sinking nearly 1200 into a 20 year old unit may get it to live again, but for how long I don't know. They offered me a price on a new system which I then beat them up and knocked another 1500 off the initial quote. Its a 15 SEER with a variable speed handler compared to my current 22 year old 10 SEER single speed handler. Of course its equal to a car payment for 3 years which does have an impact on the budget. Part of me says to the repair, another part of me says just replace it now. I decided before making a decision to request a few quotes, I had two other companies out and waiting for their response first before I make any decisions.
