Missed 30 day to transfer placeholder to DU

My husband purchased a placeholder on our 10/29 Fantasy cruise and I missed our window to transfer it to DU. We're on the Wish next month. Can we cancel the current placeholder and purchase a new one on our Wish cruise?

Sure. You can cancel a placeholder reservation without penalty, and you can make a new placeholder reservation on each cruise.

You could also hold onto the existing placeholder in case you want to take a quick trip that doesn’t require a travel agent’s assistance.

Just for future reference. Was DU your TA for the cruise when you purchased the PH? There should have been a box to mark it to transfer when he made it.

Unfortunately, no. My husband likes to do everything himself, and he booked the 10/29 cruise as a surprise for my birthday. By the time he revealed it in my birthday card it was too late to transfer. Our upcoming Wish is with a group that had its own TA. I've used DU in the past for some non-DCL trips and I'd really like them on our PH

Just be sure when you book a placeholder to specify that you do not want to book with the same travel agent. (I'm not sure how the new process works -- pre-COVID, my placeholders were automatically assigned to the travel agent I had used for the current cruise unless I requested otherwise.)
