Miss USA to be dethroned

Looks like her days on numbered. Apparently she has been drinking (she's underage) at nightclubs and missing appearances. I don't follow these types of things but why would you mess something like this up?

Miss USA Tara Conner is being dethroned and first runner-up Tamiko Nash will be inheriting the crown, entertainment Web site TMZ is reporting.

On Thursday, pageant boss Donald Trump publicly denied that Conner was getting the boot.

But a source told TMZ that Nash, who is Miss California, was contacted with the news by a high-ranking pageant official and told she will take the title once Trump finally makes the official announcement in the coming week.

The Miss Universe Organization released a statement on Thursday stating that they are "evaluating" Conner's "behavioral and personal issues" in order to decide how they will go forward with her reign.

“Miss USA Tara Conner has not been dethroned," said Paula M. Shugart, president of the Miss Universe Organization. "The Miss Universe Organization and Mr. Donald J. Trump will be evaluating her behavioral and personal issues to see what we can do to work with her, and what we will do about her reign going forward.

She wasn't doing anything illegal though nor did what she got dethroned for while she was reigning (the posing part).


The dumb blonde (yeah I said it!) allegedly did WHILE she was reigning.

I remember that. Suzette Charles took over for her. She was a patient at a doctor's office I used to at in Philly.

But Vanessa Williams did not get attention because she was forced to resign, she became famous because of the photos. Everybody wanted to(and did) see those photos, that issue became the highest selling ever for that company. Had she just resigned without the photos being published, few would remember her name.

Paris hilton is not famous because of "The Simple Life", she got the show because everybody had watched the little VIDEO she shot in a hotel room. Without that video, few would know who she was.

Oh no you aren't!!!! Not only do I remember it but I have the newspaper clipping in my scrapbook because it was a HUGE deal at the time and something that just didn't happen.

She was drinking the week before her 21st birthday. No one has mentioned but her roommate was with her (junior miss usa) whos 18. I'm not sure the thread title is accurate, even the cite says shes being "evaluated" not dethroned.

Does anyone else find the set of double standards from Donald Trump ironic?

I guess it's okay for the owner of the pageant (Trump) to have affairs while he's still married but Miss USA isn't allowed to go clubbing or drinking.

Vanessa Williams was Miss America, which is known more for brains , talent and supporting a cause, whereas Miss USA is more for your "looks". Can anyone really name a former Miss USA? Many Miss America's have gone on to do good things.

I think Ali Landry is a former Miss USA - and so is Shanna Moakler. They're not exactly household names, but they're considered celebrities I guess.

I'm 35 and I remember the Vanessa Williams controversy also - although I never did see the pictures, I was too young.
