Miss Kathy and Me take on Disney--Update 5/23-- Must Do's -- Epcot -- Mary

Hi Kathy!
It's me, the serious Dis slacker! I kept seeing the FB posts and saying "I need to get over there!"
I had the same issue with AirTran a few years ago when I booked through Orbitz. They completely changed our return flight and included a layover in Atlanta. I was told by one of the flight attendants that booking straight through the airline is always the best way and I haven't booked through a 3rd party since.
You are going to love Beach Club. I actually had DH on board to stay there at CL at the end of this month. However, we will be moving to central Florida this week so, my CL Beach Club stay will have to wait a little bit. I know, sacrifices... ;)
It definitely sounds like a wonderful girls trip is planned! Looking forward to all the status updates. I always enjoy your photo flooded posts in Pre-Trip and Trip Reports. I promise to be better at getting back on here. :)

Me
I don't really have any. It is going to be crazy crowded due to SWW. So I want to get in, get out and get back to the pool :)

I will come back and do responses tomorrow or tomorrow night (it was so busy at work, I just got home from my pedicure and I am wiped out).

But I had to share with you the Mother's Day gift that was sitting on my front porch when I got home from work today from our oldest son, Andy:

What a wonderful Mother's Day gift! You must be getting soooo excited! If it were me... I would have to "try it out" right away... I could probably even justify a trip out of the deal. :rotfl2:

D~

You may want to have a couple of those before you ride RnRc, if you know what I mean. :lmao:

I'd be afraid I'd "lose" them on the ride. ;)

Actually the coaster is not all that bad. But then again I am a huge coaster fanatic with Cedar Point only a couple of hours away from me. ;)

We've been to Cedar Point a few times and loved it. I used to love roller coasters too...and then I got old.

Just another thing we disagree about.

Well, maybe it's a good thing we didn't meet each other in December.

That's just wrong.:crazy2:

Not if you saw how green I get after riding it.

Ok, I can look past the Must Not list now. :thumbsup2 :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

I hope I survive for my son's wedding five days later.

Aside from that start, it is a pretty smooth coaster. Just keep your head back and hang on!

I don't like the fast start, the dark or any part of it. NOPE!

Oh sister, I'm right there with you regarding Hollywood Studios. I do love the theming but overall, this park is my 4th favorite.

It just doesn't have enough to hold my interest; I'm glad you agree with me. I know I can always count on you, Molly.

Love the must-do's once again! I avoid Star Tours like the plague for the same reason...last time I rode, I felt icky for awhile. Simulator type rides just do not agree with my motion sickness!:lmao: I'd skip it too, though you could maybe just walk through the queue with the girls and take the chicken exit while they ride.

It's funny...it never bothered me before. I don't know if it is "jerkier" since they rehabbed, or I just got older since they rehabbed.

My DH loves the backlot tour! I don't understand that man at all.:crazy2: He really loves the catastrophe canyon part.

Does he know they are closing it when they do the new area?

I love the One Man's Dream exhibit! Definitely a must-do.:thumbsup2 Now if only you had a Starbucks in hand while you stroll through it, right?

Now that would be perfect!

Rockin' Roller Coaster isn't so bad. It's actually one of the smoothest rides at Disney! And it's a quick ride too. I think you'll survive, especially if you're full of Grand Marnier slushies.:thumbsup2

Oh I've ridden it before...I just do not like it, nor does my stomach, my head, etc.

The Buzz Lightyear “Arcade” ride…

I believe Buzz was on my list. :confused3

As for HS,
It could use some serious upgrades to be sure.
You might want to consider “Light’s Motors Action” once before they take that one out.

We've never done LMA...I'm not sure the girls would care for it though.

The other thing we never miss is the Indiana Jones Show. Not everyone’s cup of tea, but we just enjoy that one.

I haven't seen that since 2008; Mark said he wants to do that when we go in December.

Myself… I have to do the RnRRC. It’s a moral imperative.
Get ya’ a slushie or six and give it a try.

I may have to go lay down somewhere after I get off of it.

I actually don’t mind ToT even though I HATE free-falls. For some reason, the Tower doesn’t bother me. Don’t know if it’s related to the darkness or because the descents are powered rather then being true freefalls, but I road that one with my boy when he was younger (because I promised I’d do it), and it was much better then I expected. Been riding it since (so long as the lines aren’t crazy… I’ll ride it, but I won’t wait for it).

I won't wait for it either...especially since our time is so short at the Studios whenever we go. I will get a Fastpass if need be.

I need to try the new Star tours though, but I get the motion simulator problem.
My DW has a similar issue with such.

Those things never used to bother me; it truly has to be because I'm getting older (or smarter?)

well its official the girls do have you wrapped around their little fingers, if you are willing to ride Rock & Roll with Avery!

Yes, they've had me wrapped around their fingers since I met the little urchins. :rotfl:

what about Animator's, we love this!

Because of it being Star Wars time while there, we aren't spending a lot of the time at the Studios; but Mark and I try to do the Animator's every trip.

sure if DHS puts in Cars Land the park will become a favorite for many more people!

I hope they do...the Studios needs a HUGE pick me up.

Ha ha! Kathy I see that you don't mind being dropped 10 stories in an elevator but you draw the line at being launched upside down on RnRC!! :lmao: However, it sounds like if this ends up being on your ride list you have the remedy with a slushie from Epcot! Well played!

TOT has NEVER bothered me...I love it; but that darn coaster will ruin my entire day. I'm hoping to just close my eyes while riding with Avery and hopefully it won't affect me too much. :lmao: I think any cockail at that point will help.

You need to hit the tune-in bar and have a dad's lemonade. Why travel all the way to Epcot? :rotfl:

Now that is an even better idea if I was sure I wouldn't "lose" it on the ride.

You are a good friend. What day are you at HS. I think I am at AK that day or I would take one for the team and ride with her. I do like that ride, but I can't be in the back of the train. Too much Rock with the roll.

We are at the Studios Saturday morning (June 8).

I'm honestly not sure if we are even going to HS this trip. Our time is so limited since we are going to Daytona and I really want to hit a water park one day. Somethings got to give.

I'd rather do a waterpark than do Rock & Roll. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
I hope you try Rock n Roller coaster! I find it way tamer than Expedition Everest. You never know, you might enjoy it. ;)

Oh trust me...I've tried it before. The only coaster I like at Disney...and I've done them all...is Big Thunder. :)

He's the one that's supposed to be nervous. :lmao:

Yes, but with the 10,000 text messages a day, the 1000 phone calls a day...they are driving me crazy! And then, of course, he told me the song that I'll be walked into the church too and I made the mistake of listening to it so I was crying like a big baby.

Just stopping by to wish you a Happy Mother's Day! :)

D~

Thanks, D.

Happy Mothers Day Kathy! Have a great day!

Thank you, Shannon. It was a very nice day.

I was told by one of the flight attendants that booking straight through the airline is always the best way and I haven't booked through a 3rd party since. This is the first time I've had an issue using Priceline; trust me, for our December trip, I booked using American Airlines.

It's going to be a blast...I can't wait. Just what I need before the wedding. I hope you'll be back.

I don't really have any. It is going to be crazy crowded due to SWW. So I want to get in, get out and get back to the pool :)

Pool time sounds perfect to me! With an adult beverage or two or three.

:rotfl2: You sound like me. That is totally my park touring strategy for summer. In. Out. Pool. Adult Beverage. :thumbsup2

I've not been since 2000 in the midst of the sumemr months; we went in 2004 for Andy's high school graduation and it overlapped 4th of July. It was brutal!

What a wonderful Mother's Day gift! You must be getting soooo excited! If it were me... I would have to "try it out" right away... I could probably even justify a trip out of the deal. :rotfl2:

D~

It's it great? I love it and can't wait to use it in 22 days. I've put a few things in it already. :)

LOVE the luggage. :thumbsup2 What a nice gift!

He's a good kid! Now, I'll have to put the smaller piece on my Christmas list. :)

Saw your luggage on FB. It's too cute! I've been slacking on my DIS time, but it isn't because I'm not interested. I can't believe our trips are getting so close. :)

LOVE the luggage !!! I told Judy I want some really good luggage , with ALL my trips I go thru a suitcase almost every year!! Have a feeling it will be on the bucket list for Black Friday !!That's how I got my TV!!!:rotfl2:

So Day 3 is our morning at the Animal Kingdom, then pool, and then EMH's at the Magic Kingdom.

I've already done my Magic Kingdom "Must Do's" so I'll only do my Animal Kingdom ones here. Now I know some of my "must do's" are not on the girls list, so I will either be skipping them until August with Mark or going by myself:

Must Do's:

Kilimanjaro Safaris
Dinosaur
Tough to be a Bug (girls will NOT do this)
Finding Nemo
Festival of the Lion King
Kali River Rapids (although I don't think I've been on this since 2008 because Mark never wants to do it, I'm sure the girls will want to with how hot they are predicting it is going to be)
Pangani Forest
Exploration Trail
Maharajah Jungle Trek

Also, must have my Raspberry Pina Colada at the Dawa Bar

Will NOT do:

Expedition Everest

I cannot believe we leave 3 weeks from tomorrow.

You are moving to Central Florida? Where; what will you be doing as far as jobs?

Yes we are! No more crazy Chicago winters for this gal. DH was approved for a transfer with his job. We're moving to Winter Park. About 45 minutes from Disney. :) I left my job and will be starting up my own little design business from home. I'm sure you'll see me pushing it on FB at some point. ;)

Love the AK list. Except I'm with Mark on Kali. I just can't do it anymore. I'm always the one who walks away completely drenched. And usually with the humidity, I just end up soggy and miserable for the rest of the day. We had a great safari in February. Lots of activity. I hope you see the same. :)

If I end up at a park during your trip, I'll keep an eye out for you girls. Watch out... Unemployed, passholding Floridian on the loose!

Thanks, Michelle. Our trips are getting close. I have a note on my calendar at work to message you right after Memorial Day to see when we might hook up.

Rosie, mine was still in decent shape, but Mark's is a mess. I'm hoping he'll take my old stuff now. The airlines don't help with the luggage.

You lucky, lucky girl. I'm so happy for you. Hopefully, it will be our turn in 2-1/2 years or so. Please let me know about the business when you start it up.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who never gets that wet. But I do prefer to make it the last ride of the day at AK. :rotfl:

If I end up at a park during your trip, I'll keep an eye out for you girls. Watch out... Unemployed, passholding Floridian on the loose!

Be sure to do that; or maybe you'll be there one of our 8 days in August or our 5 days in December. Would love to meet you.

Wow, seems like I'm in perpetual catch up mode around here lately........ :( Must find more DIS time!!! ::yes::

Must Not:
Stitch
Our lists of MUST Do's and Not Do's don't exactly sync up, but I can definitely agree with you on THIS one!!! :crazy2:

I also wanted to say HAPPY 87th BIRTHDAY, Daddy. I love you and miss you every day. I wish you were here to see your grandson get married, but I know you are smiling up above at his choice of a bride.
Ms. Kathy, such a wonderful sentiment!

I couldn't possibly agree any more with Stitch. Did it once. I'm good. :rotfl2:
Yep, once was definitely enough for me too!!! :)

This is our Studios Day. I have to say that the Studios is my LEAST favorite park of the four. I only have a couple of Must Do's.

Must Do's:

Tower of Terror
Toy Story Mania
Beauty & The Beast Show (if time permits)
Writer's shop for cappuccino
One Man's Dream
Muppet's
 :scratchin

Now, I have a confession to make. For those of you who have been with me for awhile, you might remember the TR where "Cayley lost her mind." She had decided to ride Space Mountain and announced to all of us that she'd lost her mind. It was hysterical. Well, I am NOW Cayley. I've totally lost my mind. I told Mary while we were texting the other day that I would ride Rock & Roll Roller Coaster with Avery. It seems the friends that are going to be with us part of the trip, won't be there on the Studios day and Avery would not be able to ride Rock & Roll. She was a little upset about this, so Miss Kathy promised her. I may need to run over to Epcot and have several Grand Mariner Slushes after that.
Way to take one for the team!!! :cheer2:

My son is getting married five weeks from today.:crazy2:
Wow, it will be here before you know it! Well, maybe not BEFORE you know it, but you know what I mean........ :rotfl:

:rotfl2: You sound like me. That is totally my park touring strategy for summer. In. Out. Pool. Adult Beverage. :thumbsup2
I like that strategy too!!!

I will come back and do responses tomorrow or tomorrow night (it was so busy at work, I just got home from my pedicure and I am wiped out).
Those pedicures must be a lot rougher than I imagined........ :confused3

But I had to share with you the Mother's Day gift that was sitting on my front porch when I got home from work today from our oldest son, Andy:

Aren't sons wonderful!!! :goodvibes

Also, must have my Raspberry Pina Colada at the Dawa Bar
Mmmm, I need to try one of those!!! :goodvibes

I cannot believe we leave 3 weeks from tomorrow.
Wow, it will be here before............. Oh never mind! :rolleyes2

You ladies must all be getting so excited!!! :cool1:

Love you AKL plans. I haven't been on Kali in a long time. Will probably do it this summer with the boys, though.
I understand the girls not liking ITTBAB. The first time we went to Disney with the kids, DS was 4 and DD was 6. AK was our first park of the trip and that show was the first thing we did (after character greets over in Camp Minnie Mickey). DS lost his mind when the spiders came down from the ceiling. Cried and jumped into my lap-would not sit on the seat and kept his head buried in my shoulder. It's dark, loud, and a little creepy for kids. We all laugh about it now, but he would not go back there for years! The entire rest of the trip we had such a hard time to get him to do any other movies.
