I am going to be having the Escape wedding next May.... I had sent in my DF and my original signatures of the contract the last week in May. I sort of had forgotten about getting the final contract back from Brie... until today.
I came home from work (I still live with my parents for the time being) and I saw that I had a big certified mail envelope on the kitchen table. I started opening it and my mom tells me, "Have I got a story about that. If it wasn't for me you probably would not have gotten that today." I thought, Oh boy..
Usually when someone rings our doorbell our scotties go nuts and bark. Apparently my mom was home all day long an no one knocked on the door or rang the doorbell. She went to check the mail and saw that there was a green post card in our mailbox saying, "Attemped to deliver, no answer." My mom said she thought "What the h---! I was home ALL day and never once heard a knock or the doorbell and the dogs definitely would have let me know." Then she said she drove around the neighborhood to try to find the mail lady to ask her what was up. No luck.
Then she decided what the heck I am going to call the post office and see what happened. Apparently you cannot call your local post office directly anymore and you have to go through an automated system. My mom said she was furious and asked to speak with the postmaster. "Ma'am you'll have to go to the post office directly to talk to the postmaster." Way to add fuel to the fire.
She gets to the post office and says that the mail lady just left the card and my mom was wondering if it was in the PO. The person at the desk said, "Well if they left the card, it must still be on the truck." So then my mom proceeds to ask to speak to the postmaster. The lady said, "Well you can but would you like to speak to the route supervisor instead?" Mom said sure and asked if she could double check to see if the envelope was even there.
The lady comes back with nothing in her hands. My mom asked "Where's the post card?" "Oh I gave it to the route supervisor, she will be here in a moment."
Mom's fuming.
Route supervisor comes up and guess what's in her hand? A big envelope.
Mom: "You probably don't want to talk to me because I am so mad right now. How could this be here if the mail carrier left me this post card today? This is certified mail and needs to be signed for."
RS: "She was probably lazy. She is getting paid to deliver this to your home and she can't walk it up to your house. I will be talking with her when she walks in this evening and she probably won't like what I have to say to her."
So, my WONDERFUL mother went through all this to get my contract today. She thought it was just my contract... I told her "Well yes it is my contract, plus our vouchers for the Annual Passes that they are giving out for the 2008 weddings."
If you're waiting on your contract to come, don't be afraid to hunt down your mail carrier. We apparently have a very lazy one, and who knows when I would have gotten it!!!
