Minnie Van Service

I took an Uber the other day and climbed into the back seat of an SUV where the driver had rigged a home made partition of sorts between the back seats and the front seats. It was a plastic see through kind of tarp that was held in place with duct tape around the hull of the vehicle. The center console between the two front seats had built in vents to supply air conditioning to the back seats of the vehicle, and the partition was taped around the console to still allow air flow. Essentially the driver and I were still breathing the same air. However, with both of us wearing our masks, perhaps a proper filter could further reduce the spread of viruses and bacteria. This made me wonder if perhaps Minnie Vans that are out of service right now could be fitted with a similar set up to reduce the spread of potential pathogens. Of course, nothing is going to completely eliminate the spread of viral particles, but would this allow drivers to safely resume this service? If so, the front passenger seat may have to be sacrificed. Also, the partition would be one more surface that would need to be wiped down between guests. Either way, Minnie Vans were such a time saver on our last Disney trip, and I hope they will be up and running again soon. Any thoughts on when service might be restored?

The big thing that is preventing Minnie Van service to run is smaller crowds at Disney and the demand would be lower. Is that a CM said the problem is. She said as the crowd levels pick up they will think about bring it back but right now they don't see a huge demand for them

Lyft is better and has better requirements (hard plastic partition, windows down whenever possible, etc.).

I like Lyft better than uber anyway.

That's the first I've heard of this.

When everything started, Lyft sent out an email to registered users about how they were working to keep everyone safe.

They have generally been better than Uber anyway on all fronts. Even the if the same driver works for both, how they respond and react depends on which service they are driving for. I was on a fathom cruise a couple of years ago and met up with someone I'd been talking with online prior to the cruise at the pier. They saw the vehicle and driver I pulled up with having ordered a Lyft and they asked how my experience was and it was night and day in demeanor and attitude - they had used Uber.

but do the lyfts in the orlando area have plastic partitions as you indicated in your prior post? No one else has mentioned them

I don't live in Orlando, but the information from Lyft was not city-specific. It seemed more company-specific. Frankly I never see anyone on here report about Lyft - they're all about renting cars or using uber.

we took a Lyft and there was no partition. We and the driver wore masks. The windows were closed. I really liked our driver. He was very nice and had a great Donald Duck impression lol

Thank you.

Took two Uber Blacks a couple of weekends ago (although both were also Lyft drivers too based on conversation), no plastic partitions.

For both rides we all agreed to keep the windows down for the trip.

First time taking rideshare since March - it was a weird feeling!

As for Minnie Vans, for now I don’t think Disney wants anything to do with a situation of putting guests and CMs in such close contact in an enclosed environment, let alone cleaning of car seats, etc. While they could certainly do it if so inclined, just seems like too much to mess with at the moment. Obviously just my opinion.
