Hi all. I walked/jogged 7 miles today, I am usually good for the first mile or two with no sweat pouring off of me. Not today...it was in the low 70's when I started so not too bad but the humidity was HIGH. Looks like our summer weather has started. All you Minnie marathoners who train in colder weather, please be prepared for the heat and humidity.

Great. I'm sure my 40 degree and rain training will help. :sad2:

Thanks for teh warning!

TO those cold climate Minnie-ers: Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate. I know i am a whimp, but I find it best to hydrate and cut down teh caffeine a week in advance. Durign the race, you can't make it up if you don't start hyrated.

Stop the CAFFEINE! You are kidding are you...April Fool's Day was yesterday.

I said cut down, not stop. FOr me, I stop, but knew that would get awful reactions, so I said cut down.

Ugh, figured this might be a challenge. We're just finally getting more than one day in a row of mid-50's.

Well guess it's time to turn up the heater in the basement by the TM.

Suzanne, thanks for the weather update. Now, tell us what TIME you were out there, please! :goodvibes Anne

I started my 7 miles at 9:30am. I know the race starts way earlier in the AM but its only getting hotter here.

The high for the last few days has been in the mid to upper 80's.

You know its bad when my DH leaves for work at 6:30am and you open the front door to what feels like a wall of water from the humidity.

Wow.. thanks so much for this!! It's a lil' wake up call! Coming from 45 degree weather, this should be interesting!

Yes, the humidity level has certainly been on the increase here in FL, way too early for this and not any relief in sight which will become more and more the norm over the next several weeks.

Early mornings will still include the humidity although temps in central FL tend to be down a bit more than down this way. But, even when the temps are down a bit the sun is just getting so hot now. We're coming to the strongest sun of the year (May & June). Hopefully it'll take it's time rising during the 5K and 15K mornings! :goodvibes

Right now, a hot day sounds great although I know when I'm down there I won't think it's so great.
Carrie, thanks for the reminder to hyrdrate. I won't be giving up my caffeine (that wouldn't be pretty), but I will make a huge effort to drink lots of water the week leading up to the Minnie.:)

Well today I ran 6 miles and then had my coffee. Usually have a cup before. I may be weird, but I like it hot.

It's not as much the "hot" as the humidity that makes it tougher for me to run faster.

I notice I get tired much quicker the higher the humidity and I need a lot more water when it's humid even for just a few mile run.

When it's not real humid I only drink about 8 oz or less during a 3 mile run but when the humidity kicks in I drink twice as much otherwise I feel queasy afterwards no matter what I eat or drink after.
