Minnie Marathon in May

Where exactly is this event in WDW and how much will it affect theme park attendance?
Was considering making ADR for a DTD restaurant on 5/6 but I think this event is 5/5- 5/7 in World of Sports so will crowds spill over into DTD?

I thought I managed to pick a week with NO events but I guess something special is always happening at Disney!

I'm bumping, because I was about to post the exact same question. I'd love to know about the Minnie Marathon (apparently on May 5) and the Go Red for Women 5K and 1 mile race (on May 6). I couldn't find any info about either one. Are they limited to the DTD area? Does anyone know about these?

It wont affect your park attendance at all! I participated in it this year (this was the first year they had it) there were 1700 runners. So all, in all, not much in the WDW scheme of things. The race is in the a.m. before the parks open. I'm sure it will be a little bigger next year, but not big enough to affect you enjoying your vacation! Plus alot of the runners (myself included) went down for the event & for a long weekend. We didnt even go to the parks that time.

Maybe this is a clue why I'm waitlisted at the BWV for May 7th. I had to waitlist for May6th, 7th, and 8th and managed to get all but the 7th now. Others had mentioned that they too were having problems getting a room. This may affect folks hoping for a discount on their resorts this spring. Glad I have a backup at the BCV for that timeframe. I didn't know about this event...thanks for the headsup.

We were down last year during the event. No real impact on the parks.

On Sunday 5/7, while we were waiting for our Segway tour (prior to the park being open), one of the races ran through Epcot near Spaceship Earth.

It was neat to see the CMs standing along the route cheering the runners on.

We booked again for 5/4 to 5/12 this year, it is a great time to go!

Not a big enough event yet, I believe this year was the first. So small I don't think they even provided transportation to the start. Info I got was you had to drive yourself to AK to start...........since that was the park we were going to that day, we rode the bus for fear the parking lot would be full. Hardly a dent in it. I really don't think this is anything to worry about other than on the race day you may see runners in the park until lunch time.

There wasn't much of an impact to the parks. The race is mostly over by the time the parks open so the crowd levels aren't that bad. Since it finishes in Epcot, alot of people park there and get a bus to the start so they can leave faster.
