Minnie Marathon 2007 -- WISH Roster (see post 1 for WISH Meets Info!)

Kristi - I noticed the same thing at World Showcase. DD was injured and we were probably the last ones to be allowed to round the lagoon before they diverted people.

Where can I find out last years times???

I am starting to freak out a little on if I can finish on time......

Thanks
Kim

Great thank you

So it looks like 2.5 hours was the last clocked time so as long as I can do 15K in 2.5 hours we should be good right???

I just did 8K on Sunday in 1 hour 10 min so I think I should be OK......and that was dodging glaciers, puddles, etc....we still have lots of snow....lol

I would caution everyone that you shouldn't look at the finish times and use that as your "deadline". The sweep points are during the race and if you don't hit that point by whatever the required time is, you will be swept. I know one of the sweep points was at the furthest point before the turn around -- I think out by WWoS before you head back toward MGM, if I remember correctly. A lot of us noticed a huge difference in the number of people behind us after that point. I just don't want anyone to count on having a cushion that might not be available and end up disappointed, since no one can be sure of how strict they'll be on sweep points.

last year while going through MGM, the "sweeper bus" was right behind me and that is when I started jogging a little...I finished in 2 hours and 23 minutes and 50 seconds. They were def sweeping people cause my DSIL got swept, but she got let back out at epcot to cross the finish line and get the medal.

Does anyone remember what the markers are??? Like I have to get to ???? by a certain time??? Like the one they have for the 1/2 and full??

I am not sure why I am freating over this so much just need to rest my mind.

Thanks
Kim

I don't think they publish sweep points and times like they do for marathon. You might want to do one of teh pace bracelets (someone had a link) with splits so you know when you have to be where.

It looks like you have to do 6.4-6.5 k/hr. About 9.4 min/k. It sounds like you have it now, but you're close. My guess is that some speed work (intervals) would help enough by then for you to be safe.

Here is a quote from an EMMI email regarding this I received today:

I do not have anything to send you, but it is easy to calculate. When the last person crosses the start line, the clock starts on the 15 minute per mile pace. If the last person crosses in 4 minutes, then you would have to be at the 1 mile mark at 19:00 on the official clock. If you have a watch and start your time once you cross the start line, then all you have to do is maintain a 15 minute pace per mile.

The full and half have key points, but you can still get picked up anywhere along the course. The same is true for this race.

Did anyone notice? I went to the Minnie site today to do some quality dreaming. ;) I pulled up teh map and now, with the exception of the first mile, ther is a water station at least every mile. Yay!!!!! I'm so relieved. I wonder if it's because of the marathon heat this year. Whatever the reason, it's a big relief to me! :woohoo:

DH told me yesterday that sunrise should be around 5:30 am that day. I was really getting worried about the heat. (big surprise, I know. ;) ) We are keeping our gym memberships until the end of Apriol to make sure weather won't get in the way of training. It may also be good to be in hotter conditions than outside for me.

The water stations are on teh course map.

Carrie,

If I read the map correctly, the water stations are every 1.5 miles(approx). I count only 5 total starting at mile 1.5:confused3

I have the 06 map on my website and by comparing the side by side, the aid stations are earlier(the have the same 5 total as LY). LY they had one at mile 7 & mile 8. This year they are at mile 6.5 and 8. They do appear a little closer(the 1st 4) to each other.

I'll go back and check. The last time I looked, it was just as you said. I pulled it up today, though and there was one at every mile, except mile 1. Off to look again....

Ok, mystery solved, sort of.

If you go to Minnie Weekend, tehn RRtW 15K, tehn course map, you get the map we've all sen. 5 water stations.

If you go to Minnie Weekend/RRtW 15K/ Race Info/Map, you end up here

Water stations at ~1.5, 2, 3, 4, 5, ~5.75, 6, 7, and 8. (9 total)

Oh how I hope the map I just found is right!

Carrie,

I looked at the properties of both pdf map files and the one with 9 aid stations was modified last on 7/24/06 while the other was last modified on 1/19/07.

Also, why would Disney put 2 stations(1.5 & 2) within 1/2 a mile? Also, why would they have 3 within a mile(5 &6). I think that it contains proposed locations and thats why there are so many(especially so close):confused3

I could not pull up any properties on the pdf files, hmmm..don't know why.

As for why they would put stations so close together, I didn't analyze it or make it, I was just excited because they were so close together.

1.5 to two miles apart still seems extreme in what could be pretty warm weather.

Ahhhh...Now I get it. Thanks! That was one of those litle things that could have driven me nuts!
