minnie and friends vs. goofy's kitchen breakfast?

We prefer Minnie's for a brunch (especially after a MM ~ around 10am) ~ it's the only character meal inside Disneyland. It's lower priced and we always visit with more characters at Minnie's than we do at Goofy's.

Which would be my best choice for a 4 and 6 year old?

First of all, here is the link to our character meal photo & information thread, which may help you decide:

Do the 4-year-old and 6-year-old prefer any certain characters? Are Goofy's Kitchen and Minnie & Friends the only choices or would you be interested in doing the Surf's Up with Mickey meal as well (that is the only meal with Mickey)?

Minnie & Friends has the most characters out of all 5 character meals - I haven't even been to that one yet but I can see that from all the photos. And if you look at the link above, you will see the different kinds of characters you can find there.

Goofy's Kitchen has a much wider variety of food than the other character meals, but is also more expensive than Minnie & Friends. Goofy's had about 8 characters in the restaurant the last time I was there in December, but sometimes there may be 5, 6 or 7.

You will find that for every character meal, there is a camp of people who love it and a camp of people who don't. I have seen mixed reviews of Minnie & Friends' food quality and general disorganization, but other people love it there and do it every trip. I, and many other people, love Goofy's and eat there on just about every DLR trip, but there have been quite a few people who did not like it for assorted reasons.

I have a hunch that, if you are not interested in doing the Surf's Up with Mickey meal at the PPH, and if you don't need to dine with the Princesses at Ariel's Grotto, then Minnie & Friends may be the better choice for the 4-year-old and 6-year-old, but, again, it kind of depends on which characters they like, do they like to get up and dance (which they do at Goofy's), are they boys or girls, that sort of thing.

Just off the top of my head, though, I think I will say Minnie & Friends, even though my personal choice (and I think better food for adults) is Goofy's Kitchen!! Minnie & Friends has lots and lots of characters (including the Pooh gang).

I think that is the best option! You can't go wrong with both of them!! Goofy's has all kinds of typical breakfast/brunch items but also things like cobbler, garlic tomatoes and lunch meats and other stuff. I have not done the Goofy's dinner in a while, but I know the variety is just as wide as the breakfast/brunch options. And at Minnie & Friends, you will be certain to see lots and lots of characters.

I have never been to Goofy's kitchen but, We love Minnie & Friends! It's right up our alley. We have a 2 year old and my daughter who just turned 3. We've gone twice, just recently a couple of weeks ago. They had the same characters this time as they did about a year or so ago. The characters included: Minnie, Tigger, Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Chip & Dale, Captain Hook, The fairy godmother, and a penguin from mary poppins.

The staff is very courteous. The breakfast is pretty good. They give you a choice of Eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, potatoes, mickey waffles, breakfast pasteries & muffins, and an omlette bar. The beverages are nice, different juices, sodas, milk, chocolate milk, Coffee. Everything was all you can eat. The waffles, drinks, and pastries you served it up yourself. The other options, a CM asks you what you want and gives you very generous portions.

The characters are WONDERFUL at the breakfast. They make a point of coming to your table and taking pictures with you. They will stay till you get a good picture. Then the best part is if you stay till the end of the breakfast the individual characters--if time-- will come to your table and just hang out with your kids and play with them. At this last breakfast we went to, there was only my kids and a couple of other tables left eating towards the end. So they put on Music and all the characters got in the middle of the room and danced with the kids. it was awesome to have my kids experience that. It was definitly a dream come true moment for my babies to dance with Pooh and tigger and all the characters. We have about 20 minutes of video of the characters hanging out and interacting with the kids and/or dancing with them while we (mom & dad) finished eating our breakfast. You can tell that who ever the cm's are that are inside those costumes really LOVE children and their job!

It was definitly very special and well worth the 25.00 per adult not sure the kids price cause my daughter was still technically 2 she turned 3 a couple days after the trip. This is something that I will always do as a special occasion for my kids, something we can't afford everytime we go (were ap holders).

One of the other best parts, it's right there in the park, you can hop on the rides when your done and your already in the magic. For this reason and because of the choice of characters, (our kids love pooh characters) we only do this breakfast. It's a great late breakfast, and your full till dinner time which saves you from wanting snacks and spending the money on lunch.

We just returned from our trip last week and we did both the Goofy's Kitchen breakfast and the Minnie and Friends breakfast. By far and away we enjoyed the goofy's kitchen breakfast. There were way more choices and the quality of the food was far superior.

As far as character interaction, they were both wonderful and we had a wonderful time at both.

My other issue with the Minnie and Friends breakfast was the service, or better yet, the lack of service. When I spend $60 on breakfast for 2 adults and 1 child, I certainly don't expect to have to get up and get my own napkins, silverware, and drinks. The other thing I didn't like was how they give you a portion of pretty much everything at the buffet. It's not like you can walk up and take x amount of waffles or just a spoonful of this to try. They put it on your plate for you. I didn't like that at all because I do tiny portions for my son to try before we get a lot, just so we don't waste. And I love the french toast so I feel like a pig saying I want 3 pieces. For buffets I like being able to take however much or little I want and not having to ask someone for it.

But, like I said above, the character interactions were great and if you're there for long enough or can afford it, I would do both. If you're only looking for one, I would recommend Goofy's Kitchen.
