Was wondering if a family member could perform the ceremony? My cousin is a minister in the state of CA, what would it take for her to perform the ceremony for us in FL?

I tried searching, and came up empty handed although I have seen people mention family performing the ceremony.

With that in mind, if we wanted to do a rehearsal, does it need to be arranged through DFTW or is it something we have to do on our own?

Thanks! :worship:

Your cousin can marry you. We did nothing special other than get my BFF ordained on Universal Life Church's site. Wishes gets a rehearsal, not Escape. But you could have a run through with your Cuz' on your own if you are an Escape bride.

I am a wishes bride, but what does the rehearsal entail? Is the planner there?

There is nothing further she has to pay to "marry" us in FL? That seems too simple. :rotfl:

The only payment is for the license. Florida recognizes any ordained member of the clergy, so if she's a minister in the eyes of her church, there's nothing else that needs to be done.

The rehearsal is a brief run-through of the ceremony, including the processional and recessional, so that everyone knows where to go and when. Your planner will be there, and prolly some assistants too.

It's very simple. DH's BFF also got ordained to marry us. I was a wishes bride and the day before our wedding we had the rehearsal at the WP. It lasted 10 mins. We just went over where to walk, stand etc. and my planner was there. On the day of the wedding, our friend married us and then we signed the license, MOH and BM signed the license and our "reverend" signed the license and I sent it to Broward County after my honeymoon to be filed. We received our certified original copies about 2 weeks later. Hope this helps!

We are looking into having DF's unlce ordained.I have been searching on the process of this, and it seems all you have to do is go online, pay some money, and that's it? Seems to easy to be true? Can anyone clarify this for me or give me a website I can visit for some info.

http://www.themonastery.org/jconten...39-a-three-step-guide-to-performing-a-wedding is the website that our friend used to get ordained. It was very easy, he just followed the directions on the website. Good luck!

I actually work for a wedding planner (The Queen of Hearts Wedding Consultants) in Philadelphia, PA. The owner of the company is ordained through the Universal Life Church...which he did online. My fiance and I actually asked him if he could/would perform our ceremony for us. He is looking into this...I will keep you ladies posted but I think were in the clear!!! So if you have someone in mind to marry you and your partner to be have them become ordained online at The Universal Church!

HTH!

Yes, anyone ordained by the Universal Life Church or another similar organization can perform weddings in the state of Florida. Not all states recognize these ordinations, but Florida does.

Florida's law says only that the officiant must be:

  • A regularly ordained minister or other ordained clergy;
  • Elders in communion with some church;
  • All judicial officers (judges) of the State of Florida;
  • Clerks of the Circuit Courts and their deputized employees; and
  • Notaries Public of the State of Florida

There are no other stipulations in the law as to what qualifies one as a regularly orgained minister/clergy. :thumbsup2
