Minimum on-site hotel stays for all guests ?

Hi...
Looking at a Wishes wedding for about 50. I saw a site (non-Disney) that said there is a minimum amount of rooms we must reserve based on the guest party size ?? For 50 people that would be 50 room nights !!!!???

But when I go on the official Disney Wedding site it states :

Are my guests required to stay at the Walt Disney World® Resort? Will they receive a discounted room rate?
Your guests may stay wherever they please. However, in order to make it easy and affordable for them to attend your special Disney event, we are pleased to offer discounted room rates available throughout the Walt Disney World® Resort. Based on your estimated number of guests, you must guarantee a minimum number of room nights at Walt Disney World owned and operated Resorts. Your Disney Wedding Specialist will be happy to discuss these minimums in detail to ensure your comfort level.

Many guests live local to WDW (at least 10 or so)....and many more prefer offsite. MUST we book WDW rooms for all our guests ?? So confused...please help.

From what I understand with the room block, the amount of nights stay can be also used by the bride, groom and family (as along as they are guests). Some couples stay at WDW for their honeymoon to help. I don't know how they determine how many nights you are required to block. It's just a number of nights stay, not a requirement to stay. You just have to fill the room block.

Since you have so many questions, I've found that PassPorter has a book about Disney Weddings and Honeymoons. Google it and download the efile. Youll get an alert when they make updates and you don't have to pay to download the new version either! There are SO many answers in there! You may want to look into that. Lurkyloo from on here is the author. Also, Disney weddings podcast is quite helpful too!
