21 September 2010 Tuesday At Sea heading to Madeira

we were at sea - i was really getting to like being at sea really

What was surprising me was how calm it was really compared to Barcelona which was like major rain storms. I was concerned that once we get to the Atlantic we would end up in rough seas but it was so calm and it remained that way.

I think by now i was so desperate to go into Lumieres for breakfast that my british reserve left me and i went to lumieres for breakfast - i think it was closed that day - no really i think it was. I either was up too late or they were not doing brunch - sigh parrot cay again .. which was fine but it did not have the pancakes. I know it did but i had still not found them - LOL

Anyway the characters were out and it was a bumper princess day !! cool It was the princess gathering

the cool thing was as we were waiting in line some of the other characters came out

peter pan now he was great really he is THE PAN thank you peter you were incredible

Anyway it was not a long wait and the great thing was it was 1 line for all the princesses COOL !!

Sadly i missed Princess Mini - but a cast member assured me she would be out later on in the cruise - COOL cannot miss my favourate character

In the afternoon I started doing the desperate shipmates its a who donit at sea it was great the cast members acted out parts it was great and the whole thing was played out across the ship so its quite immersive.

Later on in the afternoon Daisy was out after eating at topsiders .. really grew to love that place. They had a a theme every day the food was great

they had strawberry soup! that is so great love that

Hook was chasing peter pan around the atrium at one point peter hid behind me Hook was not happy about that and it was clear i had chosen the wrong side in his view LOL captain Codfish

There were lots of other characters around later

This was the night that daisy took the flirting to a new level and really upset donald it was so funny they used it to walk off stage which was great I was the last one and daisy was really flirting right in front of donald

I had to console donald at one point daisy told me to go over i said "do not worry donald I would never come between you and daisy - until now" with that i went between them to get the photo ..

That night I dined in rotation- to be honest i really liked dining in rotation it was great a different resturant but with the same servers and with the same people. That could have been horrendous but I loved the people i was dining with they were great

So then I went to the show the spannish Dance troop Los Mulero they were very good, I was really impressed. I could no way do that!

The late night adult Cabaret was Mark Nizer it was ok but a bit of a let down compared to the previous nights adult Cabaret I think the humour was just not my kind of thing.

Next Madeira - that was a great place

22 September 2010 Wednesday Madeira

Hi everyone sorta have a broadband link I am borrowing you would never know how hard it has been to get broad band NEVER GO WITH TALK TALK THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS RUBBISH.

Ok so we arrived at Madeira at about 8...

Got up early, is it just me or do you sleep less well on the outside ? i seemed to i think next time i want an internal cabin. Anyway i had breakfast in parrot cay still not plucked up the courage to go into Lumieres - i know its stupid! But parrot cay was good for breakfast though i think their pancakes were not as fresh.. yes i finally found after 4 days on the ship they did pancakes. I am a newbie at this LOL

I was booked on a trip It was the parks and views it was good. The whole trip was about 3 hours.

We were in a modern coach and the guide was a friendly local, what amazed me was how rocky the island is and how people build their homes in the mountain side.

We first went to Cabo Girão, the second highest sea cliff in the world. Here are the views from the cliff

we had about 15 minutes I bought a tea towel from a local vendor thats all we needed. There was not alot to do and alot of the area around the cliff was under construction.

Anyway we headed then down to the village of Câmara de Lobos

This is where I was a little unhappy we had about 15 mins there .. instead of the 40 mins we were meant to have .. there was a chance to try the local drink but it took about 15 mins to make and serve us all it was good and really very nice but we had no time to look around.

We were allowed to have some extra time and take our drinks with us so i wandered down to the local church

We next went to Funchal Park, known as Santa Catarina, its very nice BUT MORE IMPORTANTLY THERE IS A GREAT VIEW OF THE CRUISE SHIP!!

Anyway the guide took us around the park and then down into the centre of town to the wine lodge for a tasting it was really strong a bit like port its basically a fortified wine its ok.

Anyway I decided to wander around town, My room steward Leo (thanks) told me about the beatles boat so i went down to see it

I finally found a super market and as by now i realised you could bring your own wine onboard (big tip that everyone - yes you can pay the prices on ship and they are expensive or you can bring your own bottles its not a problem).

I returned to the ship late afternoon and had a sleep and got ready for evening meal. It was cruise casual so just shirt and smart trousers.

The cool thing was there was a whole bunch of characters out LOVED THAT WE SAW THE CHARACTERS EVERY DAY !!!

Loved the characters - i think i have said that Before !!

Evening meal was great, I loved that we had the same table mates and servers

I brought a bottle of sparkling wine with me for the table, the great thing was the head server Ceodamir came over and opened it and then poured it for us !! wow awesome service he always took so much time over us and came and talked and checked we were all really happy with things and looked after us. HE IS AN AWESOME HEAD SERVER.

I did not go to the hypnosis show of ricky kalmon do not like that sort of thing i spent most of the time seeing the characters and chilling out.

I went adult flubber - oh my god that was AWESOME... bravo disney for allowing it to be so adult it was so funny and the cast member who played the professor was brilliant i am not sure who it was but she was soooo funny i loved how she played up to the adults .. I have a movie of the comments about white powder and the tease she made about the white wine costing so much on the ship !!! I was in stitches at the end of that.

I have some images of that and movies which i will make available when i have proper broad band

Sorry everyone been crazy life recently but things have quietened down a little and hay looks like my travelling is on for this year !!!

I am working out the details but it looks like North America for a few months travelling around and south America for about six months I hope I can add something like New Zealand or fiji onto that we will see.

I had hoped i would be able to go on the disney west coast cruise to get to the USA but not sure thats going to be possible oh well maybe another year

I really hope you are all well sorry i have not got back to you

This is what I was waiting for the whole being on a ship crossing the Atlantic that was so cool - wasnt it?

So 23 it was villians day really very cool i think this was the day of me actually going into lumieres for breakfast I loved their pancakes they were great!

Today was the great Desperate Ship Mates that was so fun it was so great how they worked the ship into the story. The characters were so funny Officer Kurt really stole the show!

Some good characters out today mickey, mini and pluto love those guys

I watched 3d Alice in wonderland again love that movie johnny depp was great in that.

In the afternoon Alice and the white rabbit came out - you never see the white rabbit that was awesome

I went to the Villians tonight show which i really thought was great .. just amazing i always preferred it when the disney cruise ship performers did a show. More than some of the talent that came on the ship. I guess i am disney through and through.

Then there was a villans masquerade ball which was very good what would have been really nice to see more villians in meet and greets that night.

Sadly i missed the adult lava flow which was a shame they were so funny.

Hi all sorry been so busy dealing with contracts and all that - my contract ends in july been making sure we are kept to the terms of my contract. I have been planning my grand trip its looking like

either
USA for 3 months
then central and south america
Disney west bound cruise 14

or

USA for 3 months
Thailand 1 month
Indonesia bali and Java 1 month
Auckland New Zealand 1 month
Fiji 1 month
Mexico 1 month
Japan 2 weeks

not sure what to do?

24 September 2010 Friday At Sea

I was really digging the whole being at sea and as we had amazing flat seas it was like a mill pond

just amazing i loved being at sea this is the life to me i think i missed my calling i should have been a merchant seaman

anyway i had breakfast at the posh lumieres TRY the Lumieres candle breakfast its just great.

My Room steward leo really did look after me he sorted my room pretty much before i finished breakfast.

in the morning i watched the premier "You Again" i was a little dudious about it at first but it was actually very funny and I enjoyed it. What i missed was NO POPCORN they only had salted on the ship URGGHHH sigh cannot eat salted popcorn.

the afternoon I wandered around the ship taking photos and chilled out by the pool

In the afternoon was Desperate Shipmates (a who dunnit) at Quiet Cove it was so funny how they made it apart of the whole shps normal operations.

I loved how one of the guests mistook one of the characters and started to chat her up LOL. I remember asking her about that and she said no it had not been planned and she had to tell him to leave her alone ....LOL

there were great princesses what do you think presonally way more in character than the one in Disney world ? Love the characters in disney world but these are like just great.

Evening was cruise casual attire so shirt and trousers

The night time show was Heath Hyche an impersonator he was ok ... the pilot thing was good and the indiana jones thing was great

One the way home i stopped off at the midnight snack areas loved those really

Everynight I came back to my room there was chocolates and towel animals it was amazing to see the room all set up for us

well lets see there was

small cakes, sweets, strawberries coated in chocolate

fruits so melon, pineapple etc

there was something cooked usually chicken wings

there would be juice like orange

they were VERY generous I think they got to know me as when they saw me they just filled me UP a plate they were really friendly heres the two crew members that were usually at that station they demanded i take a photo the great disney service !!

certainly they were every night at sea I think the first nights and last few nights they were not there (but if you really needed them there was room service which was free).

They were located around the ship i think one was outside topsiders the easiest to find was outside the back wheelchair entrance to lumieres restaurant and the stairs to shutters.

But do not forget the last few nights are like the DESSERT BUFFETT at 11:30 at night WOW

yes that is true there is a great buffett which had turkey legs but was mostly cakes at the pirate party buffet and then on another night i think half way across the sea is the dessert buffett note that buffect is late at night about 11:00 and lasts about 45 minutes
