Mini Van vs. Large SUV (tahoe or sim)

Ok here is my dilemma I usually have 5 people in a mini van and we fit comfortably 4 adults and 1 9 year old. This time around I will be adding an adult. That makes 5 adults and a 9 year old and will be gone for 10 days.

question 1 will there be enough room in the mini van for the people and luggage?

question 2 will there be more room in a Tahoe?

issue 1 My mom is short and has bad knees will the Tahoe be too high for her to get in and out of

price difference on the rental is about $200

any and all suggestions are welcome

I think it's hard to get more room and space flexibility than with a minivan. Every minivan we rent has been at Chrysler minivan with stow and go, which helps a lot with more people and luggage.

I agree. We have done 3 adults and 3 kids for long road trips. Stow n go is a amazing!

You would think that a Tahoe would have more room, it does not. Hardly any space behind 3rd row for luggage. Minivan is the better pick here.

Another vote for minivan. We found leg room and storage space excellant.

We easily fit in a minivan-dh, me, my mom and my 3 kids (15, 12. & 10). Plus we each have a carry on suitcase and a carry on.

We just were away in April for 10 days with no problems getting to/from the airport. We also do laundry and 2 suitcases had pillows and blankets for my kids.

Isn't the Tahoe the smaller of the 2 SUVs and the suburban bigger? I don't know if you have ever sat in the 3rd row of a Tahoe but the seat is comfy but there is no floor space due to the that's where the wheels are. So basically your knees are at your chin. I sat in one at the dealer and I am glad I did because for that reason I knew it wouldn't work.

Minivan all the way! We drive down from PA and have rented both and definitely prefer the minivan...so much so that last year we decided to just buy one instead of rent lol
