hello all...just wanted to do a mini trip report for the Nov 6th to Nov 10th Disney Dream Sailing:
Cast of Characters:
DW...aka - Christa...aka - jajomo0118
DH...aka - Jay
DS..aka - JonJon (age 14)
Missing Character:
DS...aka - Jay Edward (age 15) stayed home this trip
Traveling with first time cruisers:
DSIL, DBIL and DNephews (ages 11 and 8)
Pros:
* All flights were on time and uneventful
* Major customer service pixie dust for WDW...gave all 7 of us free park tickets to any park w/park hopper..because reservation system was going to be down for an hour!! This was a big score for us since we only had 1 day Magic Kingdom tickets for Saturday......so we spent our arrival day on Friday enjoying Animal Kingdom......We really all did enjoy our first trip to WDW as this was a sample trip to see if we would want to spend any real time there (DH is not a park/ride person)....and I think we do......Looking forward to coming back, we loved MK at nite the castle was breathtaking and we all fell in love with the show and fireworks...absolutely perfect!
* Weather was a bit cool...but still sunny and shorts & flip flops were still abundant. First night at sea was rough and DSIL and her family was hit bad the first two nights and never really got their sea legs. I think this might be thier first and only cruise.
* Happy Limo was on time...driver courteous and they upgraded us from a standard stretch limo to the Lincoln Navigator
* Arrival at port was perfect...walked in .....checked in...walked onboard...I think the new scheduled arrival times really help with bottle necks and the wait and wait games. We had an arrival time at 12 and were eating lunch in Cabanas around 12:20....boys did the Aqua Duck around 1:00 and we were checking out our Verandahs by 1:30...with all luggage delivered by 2:30.
* The ship is beautiful and clean...and it melted my heart as we arrived at port and made me tear up as we got announced upon entering the lobby. It is a special fleet that is for sure
* Loved all the shows...Believe made me cry!! ..hits to close to home with DS not coming on vacay this time...our kids are getting so independent and have lives of there own...its a hard pill to shallow this growing up stuff.
* Food was good....a lot to pick from in Cabanas for the basics...and even with our pickie eaters (hubby and I) we all found new things to try in the restaurants....DS is the foodie in the house and tried so many new tastes and things this trip..he was in heaven.
* Our dining servers were good....Romy is excellent and his assistant was good ..the head server was attentive and nice. Our stateroom host was good....nice towel animals....I only met him once...he was nice...we really didn't need him for anything.
* DS and DNephews all enjoy their respective clubs and spend as much time as they could in them.
* All and all it was a nice vacation...nothing will ever beat our first 7 day Cruise on the Magic..it was beyond anything that can be repeated....all and only the 4 of us...I met some awesome DIS'er and still want to cruise again with one special family again (you know its you JDBlair and crew) ....I will book another cruise on Disney...just not a 4 day!! ....and that starts the one BIG CON and Disney could do nothing to control.
CON:
* The Clientele was rude .....I mean to other guests...to the customer service...to the crew.....to their children ..to each other...just RUDE in general...was it because a lot of first timers??? only 4 days??? or just more people in general??? Not sure but it was an underlying theme the whole cruise. The sense of entitlement and the waste was absurd....I did another 4 day on Carnival and it was nothing like this trip...so was it the whole ......I paid a ton of money for everything...they owe it to me.... mentality??
..but IT DID NOT RUIN my trip...just made me shake my head a more than a few times and move on each time to continue having a great time with my family. I always recommend Disney to everyone I know...and I will continue to do so...we had an awesome time
