Happy birthday Mickey!

My husband and I were in the parks on Saturday 11/18 which also happened to be Mickey's birthday. Aside from them handing out birthday pins when you entered the park, it didn't really seem like they had much else going on for his birthday. There were some birthday treats you could find around the park though.

It was a beautiful Anaheim day, sunny and a high of 80 degrees. I will preface by saying that our intent for this trip was not to ride rides, it was to eat and walk around to see all of the Christmas decor/items in the parks. We stayed at the Best Western Pavillions. The hotel itself wasn't terrible, but I don't necessarily think i'd stay here again just because I prefer to be across from the park entrance. We uber'd to the parks and back to the hotel that night. Uber was $6 in the AM and $9-10 in the PM.

We got to the parks about 7:50 and headed straight into the Disneyland Starbucks so I could purchase the Christmas holiday cup. Surprisingly the Starbucks had a very short line, so we were in and out rather quickly. Next we rented a locker for said coffee cups (and for our other numerous purchases throughout the day, plus change of clothes/sweaters). From here we did some more shopping (for my sister-in-law) and then we headed over to Haunted Mansion. It was basically a walk on, sorry I don't remember what time we got over there. We only ended up riding 3 other rides the entire day: Big Thunder, CA Screamin, and Peter Pan. The only reason we rode Peter Pan (and waited 45 mins for it) was because we'd been meaning to ride it every other time we've gone this year and just never did. Something we did this trip that we've never done was take the Carthay Circle tour. It was pretty cool, but I felt like the tour guide could have been better.

The parks were definitely pretty crowded throughout the day. We opted to not take a hotel break in the middle of the day since it wasn't a super close walk to the hotel. But we did venture over to the GCH and hang out in their patio area outside, checked out the gingerbread house, and the Christmas tree. For lunch we went to Plaza Inn to split the fried chicken plate and we splurged on dessert, the coffee chocolate yule log. It was delicious!

Around 5 or 6 we started debating if we really wanted to hang around for the fireworks or not. We didn't feel like waiting in line for any of the rides, we were pretty much done shopping, and we were just tired. We did end up staying for the fireworks, killing some time at the French Market for dinner where we ended up with another dessert. This time is was the praline cheesecake, which was also delicious! We also hung out in front of the castle taking pictures. I noticed this older gentleman struggling to take a picture of this couple with an iphone. I thought they were all together, but it turns out they weren't! I stepped over to them and offered to take their picture. The older gentleman was so thrilled to get out of picture duty. The fireworks were good, but it was soooo much more crowded for the fireworks this time around then what we remembered in the past. We ended up back at our hotel about 10:30.

I'm attaching some pictures that I hope you'll enjoy! The picture of Flo's is probably my favorite picture that I took while we were there.

Great trip report, and I loved your pictures! Especially the castle and Flo’s. Just beautiful. Sounds like a fun time...I love the idea of going and not focusing on rides, and enjoying all the many other things to do in the parks!

Thanks! Ever since we got AP's in January, our last couple of trips have just been focused on exploring the parks and all the food offerings. :)
