Mini Review of Spirit Airlines this past week

This board has been invaluable to me and I have asked many questions regarding spirit and their fees. I was very concerned because of the large number of people that had bad experiences and it actually caused me quite a bit of anxiety prior to our flight. I was able to snag this awesome fare back in January for 4 roundtrip flights to MCO nonstop. Total cost was 540. There is no way I could turn that down. Did I want to after reading all of the negative reviews? Absolutely. We knew about all of the fees they charge and about their uncomfortable seating arrangements and we purchased the big front seats for both flights. Oh my goodness, that is a blessing. My son and my husband are over 6 feet tall and they could stretch out and relax. I will do that again if available and recommend it wholeheartedly to anyone thinking about doing so. Even with the purchase of four big front seats and two bags and a carryon, the price was still much lower than other airlines would've been. They were quoting over 1300. We took off on time and had a smooth flight with no issues. Our return flight was much the same. A small delay because there were nine wheelchairs but other than that great experiences both times. I realize it could've been just as easily the opposite and I'm very grateful we had good service. This is just one family's review so take it with a grain of salt. I won't hesitate to fly spirit again. Thanks to anyone who answered questions for me the past couple weeks. Very glad to report good things.

I've read alot of bad reviews here on the DIS about Spirit, but I've flown with them several times and have never had a problem. The planes were always clean, flight attendants friendly, and flights on time (or even a little early landing). I did the research and knew going in what the fees were and knew to bring our own snacks, so had no surprises. When figuring airfare I always figure in all the extra fees to get the final price. If Spirit is cheap enough, we'll definitely be flying them again.

OP ......... Glad to hear you had a good flight. Your experience mirrors our own. The big front seats help a bunch and we always figure them into the cost of the flight. They are STILL cheaper than the other airlines and we love their direct flights!
