I am just home an hour ago from a short five night trip to Boardwalk Villas. I went solo this time, just to get away and relax. And it's the first time I've seen the Christmas decorations in 10 years!
The Room -
I was in a standard studio, #2085. I am happy to report my room was in PERFECT condition. I checked in around 5 PM, so, of course, the room was ready. It was spotless and everything in perfect working condition. There were two small stains on the arm of the sofa, and a scratch on the kitchen counter, and that's all I could find wrong.
I loved this location. It is the same floor as the lobby, maybe 10-12 doors from the elevator. I was right next door to the ice room, and never heard any noise from that. I was 2 doors from the trash room, which was very convenient. The balcony was very private and larger than most balconies I've had before. This was a dedicated studio, so it had the daybed. There wasn't a coffee table, which would have been nice. There also wasn't a VCR or DVD player. Did I imagine it, or were these being added to the studios?
I DID have some noise when trying to sleep, and never figured out what it was. It was RIGHT at my head when laying in bed, and sounded like it was IN the wall (like when we had squirrels in our walls at home
). One night I didn't have any neighbors in that room, and didn't hear it that night. Not sure if they were opening and closing drawers, digging out the cables to hook up to the internet or what. I only noticed it at night, but maybe that's because that's when I had the tv off. Not sure what was on that side of the wall in their room, so not sure what it was.
The Resort -
Of course, the decorations were amazing. Overall the resort was in really good condition. They were power washing the balconies while I was there. I also saw them cleaning some of the carpets in the hallways.
The Parks -
The parks were more crowded than I expected. We prefer the third of fourth week of January, when we have found the crowds to be non-existant. I chose this week in November, thinking most people would have gone the week before, when the kids were out of school. Most rides had little wait, but there were so many people everywhere.
My Complaints -
This has happened more than once, so I was sure to remember it this time - if you're in a studio, check your refrigerator as soon as you get to the room. I have found they are usually turned all the way down. I guess they do this to save energy, but it is annoying. I have never had this issue in a 1 or 2 bedroom. My refrigerator was not even cool, much less cold. I cranked it to max, but 3 hours later, when I returned to my room with a quart of milk, it still wasn't cold. I had to put the milk in the ice bucket full of ice. By 11 PM, I could finally put the milk in the refrigerator and go to bed!
Will we ever get free internet in the rooms? I don't even know/remember the cost, but I know it's a ridiculous daily amount. Thing is, I NEED to get online about 15 min. a day to check email, etc. I'd even be happy to pay by the amount of time used, similiar to how it works on the cruise. But, I think DVC, like ALL other hotels I go to, needs to offer this for free.
I'd be happy to answer any questions!
