Here are some random notes from our recent trip.
We drove from Delaware, straight thru to ASSp. Trip down was easy, but we made a note not to stop for a sit down meal. This was our second trip driving and both trips we were sorry we did a sit down meal. From now on we figure if we are sitting, then we are moving. It took us 16 hours.
ASSp was booked at 100% capacity, this was our first time staying at a value resort. There were TONS of kids, the grounds were well maintained, the theme was so cute. It was noisy, but we were in a more seculed spot - so in our room it wasn't too bad. I would stay here for a night again, but during the high season I would not want to spend a week.
I got up early Sun am, and while my family peacefully slept I drove over to BCV and checked in. The Cm said "Oh, we have several rooms ready now" we got a view of the quiet pool, dead center. It was 1/2 way between the parking elevator and the main elevator. Great room, our virst time at BCV, one bedroom, 2nd floor. I got our luggage in, we had packed just one bag to go into ASSp, unpacked everything and was back at ASSp around 8. My kids were just getting ready to go in the pool, when i told them our room was ready. We took off and settled in. It was like getting an extra day by checking in so early.
Of course it was Hot, but we managed well. We would go to the parks early, do our favorites and head back to the pool/room for a rest. It rained every day (I think) except july 4th. We were always back at the hotel, so it provided us with a little down time, and I think made our trip even better. We were "forced" to relax.
We did e-night at MK and had a blast. Rode all our favorites and stayed till 12:45 (ended at 1).
Some Magic we had:
Rode front of Monorail, without asking, from Contemporary to TTC.
Got two free pins from a Cm at SM, we tried to trade, but he just gave us the ones we wanted, saying he had lots!
Walked thru Epcot from main entrance to International Gateway, enterning at 10:10 pm. We had the park to ourselves, it was SO cool. My daughter did a cartwheel in WS, and said "I can't believe we are here alone" and truly we were.
We got to see CoP. Love this classic.
Rode Mission Space -- twice.
While riding TTA we got to see SM with the lights on -- it was cool, especially since I had said 5 min before -- wish we could see in SM.
BB Good did a shout out to our 2 DD's. They thought that was soooo cool. Love BB.
I was high score on Play it - but then blew it by thinking my button was pushed in, sat back and then realized all the lights were lit, that dropped me to 6th place. Deb Willis then got in the hot seat. She was so excirted to be there, that I didn't even care I missed getting in.
My 10 DD got the free Pal Mickey rental and really enjoyed it.
On the 4th of July we went to MGM, which was NOT crowded, then we went to Narcossis for a 6:40ps. We had a GREAT dinner, then watched the MK fireworks from a perfect spot on the deck. They even have the music piped in. Then we drove (only time we drove all week) back to BCV with plenty of time to catch the fw from Epcot outside International Gateway.
Made a family conclusion that although it was hot and more crowded then when we ususally go in the fall, we would go back again in the summer without a second thogught, plus we are now not affraid to try presidents holidays, etc.
We went to OKW and asked if we could ride the boat to DDT, since it was not full. They said sure -- and it was GREAT. This boat is for OKW guests only and sits only 12 people - we were very appreciative we were allowed.
All week we had been watching the waterway behind the BCV and finally we saw the Alligator 15 minutes before we left to come home.
We loved the BCV, but I prefer the BWV just a tiny bit more -- my family prefers the BCV a tiny bit more.
This was probably our best trip yet, We tend to let the less magical things fade away and only see the magic.
Next trip will be in Oct with just my 12DD (soon to be 13) and myself. Can't wait. I will take my 10DD alone when she turns 13. Gotta love those DVC points and annual passes. LOL
