This was something very small that was annoying on our mostly wonderful trip, but thought I'd share it here to do a mini (Minnie) vent about our most recent experience at Beaches & Cream, and permanently get it off my chest. It's nothing big, but it was annoying.
I reserved a table for my son and me for the afternoon of our departure from Beach Club, so we could eat a leisurely lunch, then take DME to the airport. I scheduled it plenty early enough to have ample time to comfortably make DME even if the restaurant was running very late. And we were able to very comfortably make DME after lunch with no issues.
But still, I was annoyed because I'd made a ressie, showed up 15 minutes early and gave them our info, and was invited to sit outside & wait, which we did. 20-25 minutes later (10 minutes after our ressie time), the hostess called us to the stand, & when we walked over she looked puzzled then giggled & said she'd mixed up our names with another party. "If you'll just sit & wait a bit longer, honey, we'll seat you next," this college-aged girl said to me (I am a grown woman with a child).
I agreeably sat back down and waited...for another 15 minutes. Then she called another small party forward and into B&C. After they went in, I got annoyed. I went to the hostess to (calmly but firmly) ask her about our table, to remind her that we'd arrived 15 minutes early, yet were still waiting to be seated 25 minutes past our reservation time, and that she'd said we'd be seated next, but had just sent another small party in. She walked into the restaurant for a minute, then said that our table was waiting to be cleaned, and we'd be next. No customers left the restaurant while we waited. About 5 minutes later (45 minutes after our arrival & 30 after our reserved time), she sent us in.
Upon walking in and being seated at one of the mini round tables with chairs that the waitress was just finishing wiping clean for us, I was annoyed to see a completely clean booth sitting empty. It didn't get filled for about 10 minutes while we were inside, then a group of 4 sat there & our waitress tended to them, too. Apparently, that booth had been waiting there, empty, while we'd waited for our overdue ressie outside. Rather than seat the party of 2 there who they were late to accommodate, they made us wait until a party of 4 could fill it up.
I get that Disney wants money. I've visited enough to know that. But what ever happened to customer service? When you make a customer wait for 1/2 hour to eat past their reservation time, despite having enough tables & staff, just because you want the max guests to sit there & fork over enough money, it doesn't make the customer feel valued at all.
Vent over. It was a little thing, but I wanted to let it go.
