For those of you/us who bring a mini fridge to the Fort for outside (in dining shelter or under canopy that is):
- Do you just put it on the table? Elevated? How?
- Or a stand for it? anything very small and compact and lightweight?

Nov 2023, we picked up larger mini fridge (lol) and just laid it on top of the picnic table …. And more than once we forgot that there was a plate or drink in front of it before opening the fridge!

Nov 2024, I’ll look for a smaller cube fridge, $30-40, on FBmarketplace

I’m thinking it would be a good idea if I could elevate it somehow… Looking for ideas!

(Cheap easy ideas that I can implement down there… My thought is at the lumber store just pick up a piece of plywood the size of the fridge and just put it on a couple blocks of scrap lumber that I get from there)

FYI, flying down, bringing my tent & my MEC chowhouse)
….. in November, I picked up a mini skillet and a cheap air fryer at Walmart, so along with my pocket stove (for boiling water & toasting bread), I had it made!

Foggie,

You need to reach out to a poster on the DIS Camping board. His name is @snowmedic (yes, there is a backstory to the name) and he is from Vermont and made trips to Fort Wilderness for years with DW and DD with a tent and fridge and air mattresses. Later he got a new-to-him RV (before 2020?) but his tent/fridge set-ups were awesome for a ol' tent camper like myself in his 2010's trips.

Vince (@snowmedic) hasn't posted in nearly a year (I guess life gets busy) but if you can use the DIS Search tool to find any of his trip reports/set-ups before 2020 it would be worth your while. He and DW, IIRC, lived in Florida (east coast, central) at some point in their lives. They also had family maybe up in the FL panhandle (?), and made trips even down into the Keys. (so when they left Vermont usually in the winter months, they made the most of it).

I haven't found them but I recall pics of his tent setup at the Fort and it was spacious, well thought out, and thorough. He is a good guy and although we don't have a lot of Tenting posters here on the DIS Camping Board, he is the ONE person I would point you to for "been there, done that" and he did it well for his family.

Bama Ed

Thank you! I’m headed out on Friday to a serviced campground for four-day weekend, and will be testing things out.

Thanks @bama_ed, I know I have been absent for a while, yes life does get in the way, but it hasn’t slowed us down. We have been traveling the country for the past 2 years. And because of that we haven’t been to the Fort since Jan. of 22, but that is getting ready to change, DW wants to spend her 50th there in November so we will be renting a cabin for awhile.

As for the tent camping, we do miss it but we don’t use the MH as often as we would like. The outdoor setup is nothing fancy but it works for us.
The fridge, stove and blackstone are on a foldable 6’ table that we bring with us and the bbq is just sitting on the other end of the picnic table. IMG_3115.jpeg

Thanks, @snowmedic! I went scrolling thru some of your posts, but I suspect most that starred your tent layout were victims of whatever happened to ?photobucket? circa 2015!

Is the tent is your avatar a Wenger? We had a Wenger, a tad bigger… we called it “the monster tent”.. all the remains of it now are the fly, the pole for fly, and most of its clips&clamps.

I continue to be amazed at electric kitchen appliances just under a popup canopy…. Here in Nfld, we usually get wind with the rain!
