Mini-blind repair

So I have this one window where the mini-blinds are broken. They went up, and then just stuck there. The cord isn't locked into place, but it's definitely not budging. I can't pull the blinds up more, or let them down. The cord just won't move at all now. They're about 3/4 of the way up.

Does anyone know a quick, cheap fix? I had thought about spraying some WD40 or something, but was afraid I'd do more damage than good.

If you take them off the wall, you will be able to see into the top of the rail where the mechanism is. There's probably something jammed... hopefully not broken completely. Good luck!

Yeah, that was my 3rd or 4th thought, but it seems to be put up with some kind of weird bracket. It's on the inside of the frame with some sort of little metal box holding it in on either side. I'm afraid to pull at it too much for fear of breaking the whole thing down. We're in an apartment, so I don't wanna risk tearing half the wall down.

I might give it another look. Maybe I can bend the little box somehow..

ETA: Ok..the little metal box front flap swings up... doesn't bend out. I was able to get the whole thing down and found that the upper part of the window frame has a huge hole and some water damage! Thanks so much for making the suggestion... I just caught another problem before it became huge. Broken blinds = blessing in disguise this time.

Wow! I came with a suggestion on how to fix the mini blind!
It sucks you found damage behind, but great you found it before it got worse!
