Mingos in the Watah! What in the Wuhld?

Hey everyone! I am new here! Anita, Marc, and I use to teach together and she recomended I try this out. We are planning our daughters 1st trip to Disney World. It is for her 1st birthday in Feb!! My family has been multiply times but never with an infant. I am needing some pointers! Have a great day!

:welcome: Abby!! These boards are super fun!

I took my daughters for their first trip when they were almost 3 and almost 1. It was wonderful! I loved seeing their reactions to things. My younger one was very frightened by the characters. Not the "face" ones, but the BIG ones! Lots of pictures of her in tears at Chef Mickey's.
I'm sure Anita would tell you the same - plan to go slow and take breaks for her naps back at the room if you're staying on site. Are you flying or driving? If you're flying, ship some things ahead like diapers and baby supplies.
Bring some of her favorite things along to keep her happy. February is an awesome time to go - that was when we went with kids for the first time too. We had a couple really chilly days, and then some really warm ones. Pack layers.
If you like the thrill rides take advantage of baby swap and the single rider lines.
That's all I can think of right now, but ask any questions!! We love to help plan trips!!

See Abby? I told you this is a wonderful group of people! There is so much information shared here between all of us...:goodvibes

Hi Abby
Dont let anyone tell you not to take you dd until she is older. It is entirely easy to take a 1 yr old. Take a stroller she can sleep in. Her normal bottles, cups, diapers etc. You will use the babycare stations (alot!) and they are wonderful to have. Just prepare and you will be fine. You will go slower probably than you usually do because of diaper/feeding breaks but that gives you more time to enjoy the atmosphere. :) I have taken both of mine way before 1 and have kept going. my son is 3 is I found myself this last trip wishing for the pre-walking (running) days again. lol

One thing that I did (and do) is bring a clear backpack for the baby's things. I don't like people rifling through touching all of the baby's things so this way 99% of the guards just hold it up and turn it around to check instead of going through the bag. Its waterproof and really helps you find things as well in a hurry. Also I am convinced that since people can see it is diapers etc they do not bother stealing the bag off the stroller. Most of the guards have thanked me for using it. Also I will keep a few ziplocks in it for wet/messy clothes. And a separate ziplock with a diaper/wipes/powder so when i don't have the baby care center close i can just whip that out and go without taking the whole bag off the stroller.

Have fun and enjoy this time. It goes so fast!

If Alice or the Rabbit wanted to ride the tea cups with me, that may just actually get me on the ride for once! It sounds pathetic but I know Chris would spin me like crazy so I've never been on the tea cups with him!

The girls are so adorable getting their autographs. Bella is so cautious but it was so cute when she was talking to Alice :cutie:

I really love the pictures of Bella with the characters, it's so cute that she keeps that distance after she hands them the book. I wonder how she will be on her next trip.

Oh my goodness, MeMom..your last few updates have been so great! I love the rope drop pics of the MK. It's always an exciting time.

It must be so nice being a CM there! Okay, maybe not every day is so nice, but most of them!

I am so excited to see all of the construction finished! It will be crazy thinking of what was there.

Wow, that is a very empty Cosmic Rays! You don't see that too often!

I can hear the drumming as you enter into Adventureland now!

Alice & the White Rabbit are two of my favorites!! Love them! My sister's name is Alice so we like to get a picture with the 2 Alices. :)

Abby, welcome!!!! You'll have a great time!! There's a company (I'll have to find the name) where you can rent a crib, toys, bath items, etc in Orlando & they'll deliver it to your resort, if you don't want to haul all that stuff down with you. We used it a few years ago for my cousin & it was great!!

Good morning! Yes, I had a great weekend with my boys. I am working today and then I am taking the day off tomorrow and it will be a "Mommy and Blake" day. He is so excited. I asked him what he wanted to do and he said that he wanted to play in the playroom.:lmao: Oh well, I guess that will be a cheap and easy play day.
I love the pictures of the White Rabbit and Alice. I cannot ride the teacups. They make me so sick. Well, I finally have our December trip complete. We have flights booked, ADRs made, hotel at Universal booked and rental car reserved. We are staying one night at Universal to use unlimited express pass. I am taking Jason to Universal for some big boy rides. He has been really great with all my Disney trips. I have managed to talk him into December WDW, March Disney cruise, June WDW trip, July Vero and WDW trip. ;)

Again, great pictures! I am a HUGE fan of everyone that lives in the Hundred Acre Wood, but somehow have never made it on Winnie the Pooh! I honestly don't even know how that's possible, but I'm making it a priority for next time! It looks too cute.

How fun that Alice and the White Rabbit were riding the Tea Cups! I bet Bella will love the characters eventually. Especially sine she's already warming up to them. I feel like since she's not crying when they're around, that's a good sign! :thumbsup2

I forgot to post earlier, but "WELCOME ABBY"!! You will learn so much on the boards. It is great to take your little one to WDW. My youngest son was 22 months old his first trip. He loved it!!

Welcome Abby!!

Ok I will ride the biggest roller coaster but no spinning for me.:) No Teacups.

I love the way Bella kept her distance.:cutie: So cute!!

Ok I am supposed to be doing housework..:rolleyes1

I am determined to get to MK for a rope drop on this trip. I think it will be more doable since if just my mom is interested, we can go and let the guys and Kailyn sleep and come meet us whenever. Or if Kailyn wants to come, too, the guys can sleep. :upsidedow Either way, I am really determined to make rope drop!

Meg, if I go we can motivate each other  I almost made it last year and the year before I missed the opening show by literally less than a minute. The train was leaving as I walked up :headache:

I almost gave myself a heart attack this morning because I forgot to turn back the clock in my car :rolleyes1 I turned the car on and thought I was gonna be an hour late for my psych test  I had to laugh at myself after that :rotfl:

I babysat Caleb for a little while on Thursday and Friday. Jeremy didn't get home in time for Leslie to go to work so Caleb stayed at my house until Jeremy got home from work. On Friday he didn't want to leave when Jeremy came to pick him up  We were having fun watching the Lion King and playing with toy dinosaurs and cars ::yes::

We have traveled a time or two with an infant. ;) Brooklynn took her first trip about a month before she turned a year old and Bella had been on 3 trips before she turned a year old. My plan has always been get up early and make rope drops. Go back at lunch or right after lunch to your resort for swimming and nap. Don't overpack your park bag. Ziploc bags were my friend. I would pack a disposable changing pad, diaper and 2 wipes in a quart size bag. I would take 2-3 of these with me in the parks depending on how long we were going to be there. It was perfect because I didn't have to go all the way to the Baby Care center if it wasn't close by (I actually rarely used the Baby Care Center) I had everything I needed to change them in whatever bathroom or out of the way bench I happened to be at when they needed it. I also had a Ziploc with a spare outfit in it. My girls were both on table food and whole milk (transitioning from nursing) by 11 months old so they just ate off our plates. The buffets are great for that very reason. Definitely use baby sawp to your advantage. While we have made slight modifications we don't miss anything. We still see the late parades, fireworks, and Fantasmic! Hope this helps. Please feel free to ask any specific questions you might think of.

I love the MK! My son talked me into riding the teacups with him last trip. I made it without getting too sick, and he loved it.

Brooklynn does look hot. We have never been in the summer, I don't know if I could take the heat. I'm glad they were able to get a yummy treat to help cool down.

MeMom do you have that Holidays Medley CD?? If you do not have it you can have one of mine.:rolleyes1 I bought the CD in May, & forgot I bought it & bought it again in Oct. Yup it must be the med's. That is my story & I'm sticking to it.;)

Welcome to Distown Abby! Mayor Memom runs a great little community. :goodvibes

I don't have advice for a trip with a little one (my girls were 6 for our first family trip.) Jill will be a great support for that (among others!) I am sure you will have a blast though!

Have you gone on any Disney tours before? They're really fun and make you appreciate the parks more! :goodvibes I wish I could do more, but sadly you have to be 16 for most.

It wouldn't hurt to check! ::yes:: That's funny, my experience was completely different in Pre-K to 8. We would have Stephanie C, Stephanie D, etc.

We have not. Jill and John are going to do the Wild Africa Trek in December. John's Christmas gift to Jill. I am hoping to do that one with Jill another time, and I would like for us to do a Magic Kingdom one, as well.

Certaing names are popular in stages throughout the years. In the Disney movie, Hercules, there is a cute reference to that. Have you noticed it?

Good advice. Hopefully, everyone here can help make her trip a very magical one. :wizard:

See Abby? I told you this is a wonderful group of people! There is so much information shared here between all of us...:goodvibes

She's not ready for information on where the coolest doorknobs are or which crack in the sidewalk is really a Hidden Mickey, right? She just wants the first trip basics? We'll lead her into the other 'imortant' Disney stuff if she hangs around long enough. ;)

Teacup spinning and Adventureland drums!!! Two of my favorite MK things! :goodvibes

I was in the slowly spinning Teacup with Bella. :thumbsup2

I love the music as you walk into Adventureland!

Clear backpack - good idea!

You can hold the wheel in the middle really tight and it won't spin. ;)

Bella is very cautious. Getting braver, but still very cautious. :goodvibes

I really love the pictures of Bella with the characters, it's so cute that she keeps that distance after she hands them the book. I wonder how she will be on her next trip.

She talks a big talk right now, saying she will see the characters. :cutie: She is more fond of some than others, so we'll see which ones she trusts enough to get near in just a few weeks.

Just like with any job, I think we would all appreciate each other more if we spent some time in everyone else's jobs. We would probably be a more tolerant group seeing the reality that everyone else goes through daily. ::yes::

Yeah, Ray's stays pretty busy throughout the day. I got in there to get water before anyone was hungry.

Beware as you enter Adventureland! You know there are pirates, hungry crocodiles, and spitting camels in there!

And birds.

Lots of birds.

Enjoy this day with your special guy! :woohoo:

You have lots of Disney fun on your schedule. A trip for every season would be my perfect schedule! :dance3:

Again, great pictures! I am a HUGE fan of everyone that lives in the Hundred Acre Wood, but somehow have never made it on Winnie the Pooh! I honestly don't even know how that's possible, but I'm making it a priority for next time! It looks too cute.

The new queue is very cute. If you are a fan of the story and the characters, you have to get yourself over there! ::yes::

We are soon to see how much progress Bella has made in getting over her character fears. She sure did a great job at Epcot. I love seeing her face in those pictures and remembering the cheering Jill and I were doing in the background. :goodvibes

I love the teacups! Our goal on our last trip was to spin as fast as we could!!

Oooooo, not me!
That's Brooklynn, though. She loves to spin!

I forgot to post earlier, but "WELCOME ABBY"!! You will learn so much on the boards. It is great to take your little one to WDW. My youngest son was 22 months old his first trip. He loved it!!

And even if your little one doesn't remember it - YOU WILL. :)

Welcome Abby!!

Ok I will ride the biggest roller coaster but no spinning for me. No Teacups.

I love the way Bella kept her distance.:cutie: So cute!!

Ok I am supposed to be doing housework..

When you are finished with your housework, I still have some chores here leftover from the weekend. I mean, if you are interested. :rolleyes1

I can take or leave the coasters now in my old age. I would like to do each one with Brooklynn, but usually I am the one who sits out with Bella, and I am fine with that, too.

Meg, if I go we can motivate each other I almost made it last year and the year before I missed the opening show by literally less than a minute. The train was leaving as I walked up

On Friday he didn't want to leave when Jeremy came to pick him up We were having fun watching the Lion King and playing with toy dinosaurs and cars

Who would wanna leave Lion King, dinosaurs, and cars? Tell the 'rents to come back later. Too much fun happenin' here! :yay:

You've gotta see the opening show. It will make you smile really big. :goodvibes

I love the MK! My son talked me into riding the teacups with him last trip. I made it without getting too sick, and he loved it.

Brooklynn does look hot. We have never been in the summer, I don't know if I could take the heat. I'm glad they were able to get a yummy treat to help cool down.

In the summer, we do early mornings and get back to the room while the sun is at its highest point. We've stood in lines dripping with sweat before, so it is definitely better in the fall and winter.

MeMom do you have that Holidays Medley CD?? If you do not have it you can have one of mine. I bought the CD in May, & forgot I bought it & bought it again in Oct. Yup it must be the med's. That is my story & I'm sticking to it.

I do have it, but I think there is a scratch on a couple of songs. I don't want to take your good one, but if you wanted to make me a new copy, I would gladly pay for the CD and shipping. :santa:

I was planning to get more music in October, but I didn't see anything new out.

You may need a more decisive person for a mayor.
With me as mayor, DIStown will need plenty of white picket fences for me to straddle all the time. I'll be standing up there making my Pros and Cons lists all the time before jumping into any action.

More pictures soon, friends.
