Mimi airport to port-shopping along the way?

So we are flying into Miami with just carry on, then taking a cab to the port but would like to stop on the way to get a few bottles of wine and a razor for me does anyone know off hand what's close or could recommend a cab company. Also, there isn't an issue bringing water onboard is there?

You can fly with a razor to shave as long as it's not one of those old fashioned knife looking things. You can still bring water on the ship, but you will need to carry it along with the two bottles per person of wine.

Last time we sailed out of Miami, the porter slapped one of our luggage tags on our water, and checked it. Maybe he broke protocol? It showed up in our room. We are sailing again for Thanksgiving, so I may try again.

Yes, he broke protocol. DCL asks that all beverages being brought onboard be carried on, not in checked bags.

But, the porters, are not DCL, and are not going to risk losing a tip by saying "No, you can't check that". They figure, if you don't get your "checked" beverages, you're not going to be looking them up to find them.
