We will be taking a trip to WDW at the end of March and the youngest member of our family will be 14 months old. He has not yet learned to manage a sippy cup and drinks whole milk. How available is whole milk in the parks and at Pop? Does it cost an arm and a leg? Would taking a can of powdered formula be easier? We don't spend a lot of time away from home so I haven't had to deal with the hassle of 'baba's to go. :)

I'm not sure about the availability/price of whole milk, but I'm sure they'd have some, because I remember hearing about them selling soy milk. We went last year with my DD (17 months at time) and she can only drink soy milk. I never thought to even see if WDW had it (I just assumed they didn't) and so we ordered it from Gardengrocer. -It's a grocery delivery company and it worked out great, and I'm sure would be cheaper than buying the milk each day at the parks, so you may want to try that. Honestly though, if you 14 month old will still drink formula; I'd say it was always easier to just travel with the powdered formula than trying to keep milk cold. When my DD still took formula; I had one of those little containers that had seperate compartments, so you could measure the formula beforehand, and then just add it to a bottle of water when it was time to eat. If you do take milk to the parks; I would definetly get one of those collapsable cooler things (sorry I can't remember what they're called,) but they're to keep bottles/cups cold. We used this for our last trip and it worked fine. Have a great trip.

My daughter is 19 months old. She drinks from a sippy, but uses a bottle for comfort. I am trying to get rid of the bottles and since January my rule has been "only 2/day" however weekends usually screw that up.

We are going to Disney for a weekend trip next week and the our real vacation in April. I plan on bringing some travel packets of formula with me to use in the park, when she goes into drama mode and HAS to have her bottle. When we are out an about we do buy her milk at places and put it in her sippy, but I feel at Disney, it would be really easy to lose track of time and forget how long that milk has been inthe sippy cup IYKWIM? So a travel packet or two of formula to keep the drama queen happy.

Also if I don;t have the travel packs and use formula froma can, I usually just scoop out the desired amount and put the powder in the bottle and then carry a bottle of water with me to fill up.

When my daughter started on sippys, she didn;t take to the spout ones, so we used the kind with a straw and went backwards from there. You might also want to try sippys with a straw if he doesn;t like the spouts.

Just wanted to add, that milk is readily available for purchase, at most CS & TS restaraunts in the parks, as well as resort food courts or CS locations. So if you just want to travel w/ your childs bottle & fill it with milk purchased while there, it should not be a problem.

ETA: If you wanted to keep some milk in the room, you'd have to either, bring, borrow or rent a fridge or cooler, as fridges are not standard at the Value resorts. :) Or try to get in on a fridge swap.

I've been trying to get him to drink from a straw but he just sticks it in his mouth and looks at me like, "Wha?!?" then proceeds to chew on it or try to take everything apart. The sippy cup just completely confounds him. The child won't even hold his own bottle sitting up. He has to be laying down. My girls had no issues at all switching from bottles to cups (we even mostly skipped sippies) but Mister Mister is pulling a Prima Dona routine or something. He'd be happy to kick back all day with people popping peeled grapes into his mouth. :lmao:

Good to know. I was worried they would mostly only have 'healthy' 2% or skim or that it would cost $4 for a tiny carton.

We were there this past December with DS who was thirteen months and at certain CS restaurants they did not have whole milk available. I even asked but only 2% was available. Most TS places had it and so did some of the side shops with drink coolers. I thought it was much harder to find whole milk at the parks than I thought. We were at OKW so we had a gallon of milk and filled up before we went to the park for the day, but needed to get "emergency" mom for his baba while there. You just have to look carefully or ask for whole. Yes, they did offer Silk soy milk at most place too and the milk was a snack credit on the dining plan.

Have you tried the Nubby sippy cups - I know Walmart carries them. They have a soft spout almost like a bottle nipple.

My dd's first trip to Disney was for her first birthday. They had whole milk at the CS locations at the parks. We were staying off-site that visit so I do not know about the hotels.

Haven't tried that type yet. He does,'t seem to get the concept of lift and drink right now so I'm not sure it's a problem with the type of sippy cup so much as the idea that you can drink while sitting up. :)

I've been reading a lot recently that Disney will give you a fridge for free if you have a little one that needs milk. I had no idea that this was an option last year and so we shelled out an extra $100. Like I said, I've never done it, so you'll want to make sure first, but I would call before just volunteering to spend the extra money.

My DD was the same way. I had bought her all these cute Disney sippy cups for our trip, but she wouldn't touch them. I ended up just letting her have her bottles for the trip, but then once we got home I tried the soft tip ones (not sure what they're called) and she ended up using them for a long time. She's just now starting to use the hard plastic princess ones, so OP you may want to try the softer tip ones (I just remember they said for ages 9months and up) once he decides he can drink while sitting up:) Kids are so funny.

We just got back a couple of weeks ago and it was so much easier to just do powdered toddler formula - although I don't think it's much different that regular baby formula. No worrying about buying it when she wanted it NOW and no worries about keeping it cool all the time. Worked out great for us. DD is also 14 months old. We just added the required number of scoops to the bottle and took bottled water with us to add (usually one ounce more than needed as it went down to about the correct amount once mixed).
