Military tickets

You can activate them at ANY guest relations office, including Downtown Disney. The people whose tickets the military member is activating do NOT have to be present at the time of activation. I just activated tickets for my sister, niece and two grand-nephews at Disney last month. We're all going together in August, but they're coming in before we get there, so she'll have the tickets when she gets there.

We've been using these tickets ever since they first came out and the amount of misinformation generated about them is always amazing. Things have changed from time to time over the years and sometimes CMs don't understand them well enough either. You have to know the rules and insist on speaking to a supervisor if you get a CM who doesn't understand that they can be activated without the actives there. You do, however, need their names, birthdates and address and the names are written on the tickets in permanent marker.

I am assuming that your comments are directed at my post above.

My mother-in-law did ask to speak to a supervisor. She was told we had to be there with her to supply our birthdates, info, etc. in person. So, it's up to the CM you get as to whether it works or not. The rules do not specifically state that they don't have to be present. It's up to interpretation. She had made a special trip up to Disney from Boca Raton just to get the tickets for us, and even explained that to them. She had to go again with us present to get the tickets.

I am only sharing our experience with the cast members that we encountered. It's not misinformation that I am generating. We have purchased the tickets for four years now. It's great that the cast member allowed you to purchase without them present, but based on our experience, it is not always the case.

Thank you- that is exactly what I needed to know! I made reservations at Boma for Sunday night, so I figure we will get the tickets, eat dinner, then walk around DTD for a bit. I'll get them activated then.
We can't wait as well! My son is 13 and is a true daddy's boy. He is always miserable during these deployments, but is looking forward to this trip. It will take his mind off things (and he gets to see that mom is pretty cool, too!) :cool1:

I can only imagine how difficult it is for all three of you. We did not have children during the ten years my husband was in the Navy and deployed. And that was hard enough being apart. I hope that you have a magical trip together. I'm sure you are a very cool mom, and that your son is lucky! :) Especially if you are braver than I am and ride the coasters.

I have twin boys about to turn 13 in May. Boma is one of their most favorite restaurants. I think it is one of the few places they can eat enough to get full! Walk around afterwards and see the animals at the Lodge. They have night vision goggles for guests to use if it's dark.
