Planning a big family trip for March 2017 - DSon, DDiL, 3 DGC who will be 13, 8 & 8 at the time, and my DSis. We'll be staying off site (out of DVC points! :guilty:). MouseSavers just posted today that Military Salute tickets will be available in 2017, and DSis is eligible to buy them, which will be a huge savings! But we have some questions, and I'm sure y'all can answer them.

DSis is planning to buy the tickets at her local base so we can get them tax-free. We know we need to activate them at WDW and that she'll need to show her military ID when we do.

1) Can we activate them at Guest Services at DS, or must we take them to a Main Entrance theme park ticket window to activate them? (We're seeing conflicting information on various websites.)

2) We assume we all need to be there to activate the tickets. Does everyone need photo ID, or just DSis, or just all adults age 18+? DSis is nearly convinced that the kids ages 8-13 will need photo ID too, which they do not have, being civilians! (Their schools don't issue photo IDs.) I think we're getting confused between requirements for the Military Salute tickets and regular military discount tickets.

So please help resolve our confusion! :worship:

TIA!! :thanks:

Minor children under the age of 18 never need photo ID for anything ticket-related at Disney. Everyone needs to be present, but the military member is the only one who needs ID. (It used to require ID for everyone 18+, but not anymore. This could change again before next year, who knows. Adults should be carrying ID anyway.)

Guest Relations at Disney Springs should be able to activate Salute tickets.

If you ever do need a photo ID, you should be able to get one at your DMV. My grandson needed one for something when he was 10 and that's where he got his.

Well, my sister emailed Disney and received confirmation that no one under age 18 needs photo ID. So she's content and I'm happy!
