I'd like to challenge you all if you know someone in the military get their address and write to them. Don't know what to say...just tell them you are thinking of them. These guys/gals live for mail and news from home. Those letters are their lifeline.

I don't currently know anyone in the military (although my father & brother both served).

I'm not sure they are still doing this. I know that it was halted last year during the anthrax attacks, and I don't know if it was started up again or not.

Operation Dear Abby, where you send mail to "any serviceman or woman" was suspended. I work for the Postal Service and I believe it was due to the fact that mail, especially military mail, is being very closely screened. Having all those packages from unknown senders was just not a good idea, even though the intention of sending good wishes and support to the servicemen and women was a wonderful idea.

My prayers are with all who will be serving our country and with the families who will be waiting at home.
