HI..Great info. Are there restrictoons or blackouts? We are booked for Thanksgiving week 2003 (thru Dreams). I know that for the DC onboard credit that is a blackout time. Thanks for any additional info.
Hello! I believe there pretty much has been some sort of military discount for most Disney entertainment concerns. From my limited experience -- the military discounts run on a calendar basis. There is currently a military discount on Disney Cruises for this year (I am not sure what it is -- but it is over in December). I pretty much figured that it would be renewed by Disney for next year. I asked my travel agent to keep checking with Disney to find out what the 2003 discount would be. I found out three days ago. What I recommend is that you call the Disney Cruise folks directly -- or if you are using a travel agency -- ask them to check on the discount. All I know is that it is $100.00 per state room and that I have to show my ID upon boarding to get the credit. Like I said though -- your best course of action is to call before hand just to make sure. I hope this helps. Jack
Thanks. I will be contact DU to see about that. Every little bit helps, that's for sure. Now I just hope both my husband and me (both military) will be home for when our cruise is scheduled as last year he wasn't!
Disney has extended their military rates until sometime in March 2003. (sorry, I forgot the exact dates) If you have a cruise scheduled, please check with your travel agent BEFORE making your final payment...once that's done, the cruise lines will no longer reduce it. Hopefully this helps someone out there anyway.
We just used the active military discount for our 10/27/02 cruise. I have already called to see what is available for next fall. They said the current military discount goes through March but I was told if availability allows that will be extended about every 90 days. It saves a ton of money and a wonderful perk for those of us whose husbands are fighting the war on terror and possibly the new war.
Question is the $100 credit in addition to the military discount rate which saves about $500 for a family of 4 (1 baby of the 4) or will they just have regular rates for military no discount but a $100 credit?
Thanks for the clarification Megan. I knew the $100.00 was new, but what I didn't realize was that Disney had just extended the discount for another 90 days. I am cruising in January and the discount did not apply till recently (the new 90 day extension). Hang in there folks and stay posted. My money's on Disney extending it through this next troubled year. Jack
I am hoping ofr late summer or next fall again. It saved a ton of money and I really want to go back. DH will be deployed but mother in law has promised to go.
