I'm heading to Disney for the first time in a couple weeks, and am a big chicken when it comes to riding amusement parks ride. What are some of the rides that aren't so wild that I can start out on? I'm hoping to work up to Splash Mountain, that's the one I really want to go on. Thanks in advance for the help!

Please try Splash Mtn- it's a great ride! The theming is so terrific, and it is one of the best rides in all of WDW, IMO. Try not to let that one big drop intimidate you- it's 5 seconds out of a 12 minute ride. you'll know when it's coming- just hold on, close your eyes, and take the plunge!! That drop is also not as bad as it looks.

Have a great time- start out with Peter Pan, Pooh, Small World, Tomorrowland Transit Authority, Jungle cruise, and work up to Splash- you'll do fine!!

Splash M. is a fast 148 foot tall mountain with a drop hight of 40 feet :cool1: Space M. is a fast 30 foot tall mountain with drop hight sizes of 5,9,2,3,4,5 and 9 foot drops :scared1: BTMRR Is 140 feet high mountain with 11 drops with hights of 1,8,5,5,7,20,15,5,4,2 and 3 foot ::MickeyMo

I don't do thrill rides at all, but I can honestly say that I can do all the rides at Mk with very minimal anxiety. When I first got up the nerve to do Space Mountain and Splash Mountain, I tried to find info on how long the rides actually lasted and that helped a bit. The big drop is at the end of Splash Mountain, so if it freaks you out that bad at least you can feel confident knowing that the ride is almost over. Hope this helps you.

I love, love, love WDW and go on very few rides because I have the double-whammy of both motion-sickness and claustrophobia issues! Splash Mountain is also the one I really want to work my nerve up enough to ride.

In the meantime, "mild" rides I've really enjoyed are: Peter Pan's Flight, Snow White's Scary Adventure, Jungle Cruise, Small World, Buzz Lightyear's Spaceranger Spin, The Great Movie Ride, Journey into Your Imagination/Figment ride...that's all I can think of right now. I'm sure you'd be fine on any of them. Maybe someone else can let you/me know what the next level up would be!

There are no big drops on Space Mountain, just darkness and quick turns, with an occasional very short drop.

Try Goofy's Barnstormer in Toontown. It's a quick, mild rollercoaster that still has a little "thrill" factor. I think it would be a great warm up to Splash Mtn.

Really, the only thing even remotely thrill related on Slash is the drop at the end - and that is over so fast you won't even realize it. The ride is so totally Disney, you're sure to enjoy it. You will be so psyched once you've faced your fear and realize how great the ride is you will be hooked and want to do it over and over again. :sunny:

The animatronics in Splash MT are worth closing your eyes and holding on tight for.

Funny that someone should ask this type of question becasue my mom is the exact way. She will do no thrill rides and i mean 0 thrill rides. The most intense ride she does is Splash, she won't even do Barnstormer. The rides you will want to stay away from if you do not like intense thrill rides are: Test Track, Mission Space(enless you do not mind getting spun around inside a centerfuge, alot of people do come off sick however), Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Tower of Terror, Rockin Roller Coaster, Dinosaur(its not that bad but its in the dark and it's quite loud at times), Primevil Whril(there is alot of spinning). the rides that you can go on and work your way up to are the simple ones such as Peter Pan, Snow White, TTA(Tomorrowland Transit Authority), Buzz Lightyear, Spaceship Earth, Ellen's Energy Adventure(it's very boring but tis a good 45 minute nap! haha), It's A Small World. There are probably others but I just can't think of them right now. Once you get there, talk to a cast member if you want and they will help you out. Good luck and have fun!

SOME OF MY FAVORITE MILD ATTRACTIONS (even though I consider myself a thrill seeker) are AT MAGIC KINGDOM: MICKEY'S PHILHARMGIC, BUZZ LIGHTYEAR SPACE RANGER SPIN, HAUNTED MANSION, PIRATES OF THE CARRIBBEAN, & PETER PAN'S FLIGHT....EPCOT: you have to try SOARIN, SPACESHIP EARTH, and I think you could do TEST TRACK, it's not that bad. It just goes fast for a couple seconds at the end...at MGM my fave mild attraction is: MUPPET VISION 3D and walk thru ONE MAN'S DREAM if you get a chance, and stay for the short movie at the end...and at Animal Kingdom: do yourself a favor and make KILAMANJARO SAFARI a priority

The quick drop on Pirates of the Caribbean is a good way to work yourself up to Splash Mountain, which has several of those kinds of "small drops" before the big one. I agree with everyone else's thoughts that Splash Mountain is one of the best rides at WDW (if not the best) so it would be well worth it!

Good luck and have fun!
