Hot on the heels of the critical raves of his Netflix series “Midnight Mass,” filmmaker Mike Flanagan revealed on social media this week he’s keen to make a horror movie set in the “Star Wars” universe.

Flanagan revealed that little tidbit in a tweet response to an earthquake he was just in, promptly igniting plenty of social media excitement and speculation about what his approach might be.

The “Doctor Sleep” and “The Haunting of Hill House” director is busy and is in post-production on the young adult series “The Midnight Club” and is readying a new Netflix series based on Poe’s “The Fall of the House of Usher”.

Space is a great setting for horror, honestly. That said, he should bypass Star Wars and do something Lovecraftian.

Star Wars isn't the place for a true horror story. There could be a story with elements of horror, but they'd need to keep it light and in tone with the rest of the Star Wars universe.
