Does anyone else notice that with the cold weather they are suffering from more frequent migraine headaches. I actually had 3 over the weekend. It got so bad, I ended up making an appointment with my GP and getting a new prescription for Maxalt. That seems to be the only thing that works for me.

If I don't have a migraine, I at least suffer through the day with a dull pain in my head. Anyone have any good remedies (other than meds or laying in a dark room). I work all day and need a quick fix here at work

I have had a lot lately as well, I figured it was just due to stress or something :confused3

I'm on a preventative medication and take Maxalt for the actual headache. I'm not worse now than usual, but of course everyone can have different triggers so maybe the change in pressure or even the actual cold air does it to you. I figured out this summer thatn being overheated can cause me to have more headaches. Not good when I spend a lot of my summer weekends watch my son's baseball team. I have a lot of other triggers, too, and pinpointing them helps. I'm finally under the care of a neurologist so we can try and figure out what's going on. Be careful of how much Maxalt (or any pain reliever) you take since you can get a rebound headache from taking a lot of meds (happened to me and I needed to go on a 12 day course of prednisone to try and break the cycle. They are a little better and I'm only getting 1-2 migraines a week that are bad enough for me to take the maxalt.

Many normal headaches are brought on by minor dehydration. Often times, by drinking a couple tall glasses of water at the on-set can knock them out. I recently read that Gatorade can help, addressing the same cause. Migraines are a different animal, but it may help. Good luck, they are very debilitating.

I just wanted to say God Bless. I have had migraines for years and cannot take much meds due to other issues. Yes the weather does play a huge role in migraines. Hang in there, I know how you feel. Hope you get better soon.

Sometimes taking a shower can help if I start to feel a headache wanting to take hold (not if it's already bad, though). I think it helps to relaz me, especially if it's one that has been brought on by stress. But it's hard to take a shower at work! :rotfl:

Yes, I believe the pressure changes with the cold weather trigger them. That and the stress of the season.

Yes, I do. It is because the air is really dry.

You know what helps, Ayre saline nasal spray (or the generic, just don't buy the gel spray). I used to work for an Ear, Nose, and Throat Dr. and he would recommend it to his patients all of the time. It is non medicated and you can buy it at you local pharmacy or grocery store. It has been a god sent for me during the winter.

I get them mostly on the seasonal changes...but from summer to fall...and winter to spring. Fall is bad for me...although this year, I got some BAD ones in late July. (I'm leaning towards these being "cluster" migraines...as they pop up every 2 years and last for about 3 weeks.

lovely, eh?

My migraines are more likely to be brought on by the heat or hormonal changes. I have had a couple of migraines lately, but not the full blown, take Maxalt kind, Thank God!

I have been having a rough week..

I think the nasty weather we have been having here in Central Fl has been causing them, plus that time of the month, and mine are hormonal migranes... I had to take a Imitrex today.

Hi, my mother inlaw has said,"when you feel a headache coming on, go do the dishes" :rotfl: I thought. But true. I guess the hot water on your wrists help.
I take something right away, because I know they would get worse. If I am at home I would take half a gravel, put Vicks on my temples then try to go have a sleep. TaDa.Gone.

Dealing with one right now. It started last night. Mine are hormonal. Also the change in weather. I just hate it. They usually last up to 2 days. :sad1:

My headaches have been so bad the last few months that I think I'd have to be washing clean dishes. LOL

My headaches have gotten worse once I hit 40yo. I think that hormonal changes have been the cause. What does this mean about menopause? Will they be terrible after menopause or get better? BTW, I know that you all are not doctors and I will try to ask my neuro dr next visit, but I thought maybe someone had a clue about this. :teeth:

I am in my early 30's, but I have heard from quite a few woman (both at work and in my family) that when you hit menopause, they do get better. They are less frequent.

I'm sure hoping! Otherwise I could become a dangerous woman. :rotfl2:

I've had a lot all week. And they make my face turn beet red, so it has been an embarrassing week for me!!! I can get rid of the headache, but it seems like once I turn red, that's it for awhile.

I have never heard of that before. What does your doctor say that is from?

The only thing that has worked for me is Botox injections. I have 5 of them between my eyes. It doesn't prevent them completely but it makes them mild enough that Excedrin Migraine can keep them from being debilatating. If I let the botox wear off (it lasts 4-6 months) I can easily spend 4 days in bed with a Migraine. Immitrix, etc won't even touch it.
