My SO and I were planning to go to WDW in April, but are starting to lean towards going to DL again as we had such a great time on our last visit. I was hoping some of you local DISers could answer a couple of question.

What would the crowds be like around the 1st weekend of April?

What would the crowds be like the 3rd weekend (Easter weekend)?

Does anyone know what rides/attractions might be down at that time?

Thanks :D

I am not a local, but something for you to consider. We went to DL in April, I believe the second or third week, in 2000, and it was their Spring break for schools, and EVERTHING was packed. But, it was our only time to go as it was our Spring break also. I checked with DL or the Tourist Board and they knew when the Spring break was for their schools (I might have even called the school district, can't remember). Just a thought. It was very, very crowded though.

The first weekend is our number one choice. I'm only considering the third weekend because my SO is originally from Seattle and the Mariners will be playing the Angels in Anaheim that weekend. We've both already agreed that it isn't worth it if the crowds in the parks will be too bad.

I would avoid Easter weekend and the spring break associated with it. I went this year Tues-Thurs, April 2-3 during Easter week and it was packed! (Easter was March 31 this year)
I went again on a Sat-Mon, Apr. 20-22 and it was absolutely perfect. Very low crowds and the weather was great.
I think Easter is in late April next year so you should have a wonderful time in early April. Have fun!

<font color=navy>I agree with the above posters.

Everything to do with Rivers of America will be down. They are draining the river in January, so you won't have, Tom Sawyer's Island, canoes, Riverbelle & Columbia ships, nor Fantasmic.

I'm hoping that they do something good with the island. It sure needs it!

Thanks :D We were kind of shooting for the first weekend of April to begin with, but would have gone later depending on the crowds. I guess we will be going earlier in the month.

I'm not too worried about all the river related rides being down, although it would have been nice to see Fantasmic. Yes, the island does need some work, so hopefully my missing the rides there will be for the greater good ;)

We're about 90% sure we will be doing DL instead of WDW. I'm going to try to get some more ride closure info as it gets closer. I'd hate to get there and find half the E-ticket rides closed for one reason or another.
