After six years of trying, my wife and I are expecting our first baby in November ... a girl! We've come up with three names, Delaney, Marissa and Mackenzie but are struggling with middle names. We would appreciate any suggestions from fellow Dis'ers.

First off congratulations:Pinkbounc I'm assuming your daughter will have your last name and her first name is something both of you selected so how about a middle name from your wife's family? It could be her maiden name, her great grandmother's name etc.

Congratulations! After 6 years of trying, you must be thrilled!! :)

I'd suggest something simple, like Ann/Anne. I think it goes nicely with all three of the great names you're deciding from.

:)

A BIG congratulations to you.
Choice was easy for us with our DD
My Mum's name is Pauline, MIL's middle name is also Pauline,
hence our daughter Emma became Emma Pauline.
We got huge brownie points, lol!
Is there any name in common with both sides of the family?

First of all congratulations!!! We didn't have to wait quite that long, but know how it feels. Our DD's are 21 and 17. I wish I would have used my maiden name for their middle names.

I think the Maiden name is a great idea. How about her mother's maiden name if it works? (With longer first names, shorter middle names work well.)

I like snowark's suggestion, without the "e" of course ;)

I have an almost-3-month old granddaughter named Delaney. Her middle name is Rose. Which is her mommy's (my DIL) middle name too. Truth be told I didn't care all that much for the name Delaney when they first said that was what it would be for a girl, but when they put it with Rose it really grew on me....now I find the name Delaney Rose to be beautiful and totally suited to my beautiful little grandbaby!

Are you guys parrotheads. This is a popular name for them, as it is Jimmy Buffet's dd's middle name, and here follows his song written for her (I'm assuming)
Delaney talks to statues
As she dances 'round the pool
She chases cats through Roman ruins
And stomps on big toadstools
She speaks a language all her own
That I cannot discover
But she knows I love her so
When I tuck her 'neath the covers

Chorus:
Father, daughter
Down by the water
Shells sink, dreams float
Life's good on our boat

Delaney draws me pictures
She finger paints the sand
We chase the dogs and hop like frogs
Then I do my bad handstands
She's growin' up too fast for me
And askin' lots of questions
Some I know the answers to
And some I'm lookin' for suggestions

Chorus:
Father, daughter
Born by the water
Surf's up, sun's down
Life in a beach town

And some of the things I've seen
Maybe she won't have to see
But there's a lot I want to pass along
That was handed down to me

Delaney talks to statues
As she dances 'round the pool
She chases cats through Roman ruins
And stomps on big toadstools
She speaks a language all her own
Just a little like her mother
And she knows I love her so
When I tuck her 'neath the covers

Chorus:
Father, daughter
Down by the water
Shells sink, dreams float
Life's good on our boat
Shells sink, dreams float
Life's good on our boat

Congratulations. :D
Why choose a middle name at all? Not everyone has a middle name.
::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

Is there a feminine family name you might could use? Congratulations on the Princess-to-be.:)

The first thing that popped in my mind was Kate. Delaney Kate, Marissa Kate or Mackenzie Kate.

Congratulations........... :Pinkbounc

I like the old names of Alexandra & Elizabeth for middle names, hope you find one you really like;)

How about Elizabeth? It would go nicely with any of the first names you have picked out. BTW, my favorite of the 1st names is Marissa... very beautiful and feminine!

I like Mackenzie Rae

Congratulations :)

I love Elizabeth.. its a middle name in our family.

My 3 DD's all have middle names of their grandmothers/great grandmother.................Rose, Marie and Hannah!!!

Congratulations on the pending arrival of your new princess...........best wishes for a happy and healthy pregnancy!

If I had a DD her middle name would have been Ariel. ;)
I also like Lee or Leigh, Belle, and as mentioned above, Rae for middle names.

Wow! I'm overwhelmed with the great suggestions you shared! A big 'thank you' to everyone that took the time to reply with your thoughts and well wishes. I've pulled together your comments and will sit down with the mom-to-be this week and decide. We'll keep you posted.

Thanks again,

mucrick (John E. Crick, Jr.)
mom-to-be (Robin Lea Crick, maiden name Steen)

P.S. I asked mom-to-be "why do we even need a middle name" and was told that wasn't an option. ;)

What about Marissa Delaney? You like both names, and I think it sounds cute together. Marissa Delaney Crick. Beautiful, for what I'm sure will be a beautiful baby!
