I just noticed my middle initial appears on my driver's license, but I did not include it on my airline reservation. I'm flying domestically on Southwest. Any chance this will be an issue? Thanks!

middle name/initial is not an issue on an airline ticket...
you don't need your middle name on your airline ticket..
we NEVER have our middle names on our airline tickets despite the fact that our passports have our middle names...

But ur license... most people use that instead of a passport

Not a middle name, but a middle Initial...
and if ur legal name on license has the middle initial... I know my ds had an issue and it just added stress!

we've flown hundreds of flights and never had an issue...
(i won't even add that we each have two passports and our airline ticket only matches one of them, but of course we give the TSA illiterate the one that matches other than not matching the middle name)...

I had this same issue last spring for an international flight. My reservation had no middle name, but my passport did. Never had an issue on all 4 flights I took.

Sometimes my bp has had my name one way, and my license slightly different. Sometimes I forget and just put an M in for my middle name, other times I put in Marie. Hasn't been an issue...yet.

Ultimately yes... but he had to really talk his way thru and started pulling out all kinds of stuff...college ID, some other cards all that did Not have the middle initial. And they made him feel like they did him a favor.
Perhaps just that TSA agent??

It just caused stress.. so we re extra cautious ..
and have to add, he has been pulled out of lines a lot! :rolleyes1
and gets to be xtra screened..

And not just airports .. even "random" at Disney several times lol
He rolls with it now ..but WHY is another
Thing...

how incredibly frustrating and upsetting!!!!!!!
i hate it when they profile like that...

Don't worry about it.
It's your first and last name that need to appear the same as your ID.
On Southwest I don't even believe there is a spot for a middle name or inital.
My full middle name is on my ID and passport and I don't believe it's ever been on my airline tickets.
Really nothing to worry about.

DH and I both have our middle names on our licenses but never put them on our airline reservations, we each individually take about 12 round trip flights per year, and neither of us has ever had any issues or questions.

Agreed.

This is nothing to worry about.

Just that agent.

Listen...my dad flies roundtrip once a year or so without ANY ID. He goes with extra time to chat, and he gets through. (domestic of course) (he's in some sort of Hatfield/McCoy thing in his mind with the California DMV and can't get a license and apparently doesn't know that you can actually get a passport without a DL) So having a middle initial there or not isn't something I'm going to worry about. You explain, you get through, you move on. No need to get more freaked out about it than necessary.

(all this is info for now, not for a year or so for now)

Thank you all for the replies! Feeling better now! lol

I always put in my middle initial and DH's middle name when booking SW tickets, because that is how they appear on our licenses. However, the printed SW tickets/boarding passes only show first and last names every time, and it has never been an issue.

Since it sounds like you are a little worried I would just call SW to change your ticket to reflect for middle name. It is simple!

Not an issue. Where it comes into play is so the airline can narrow down your identity when comparing you to no-fly or watch lists as supplied by DHS to the airline. My youngest daughter kept getting denied an advance boarding pass at age 12. It appears that she had a similar name to someone on one of the lists. The airlines said to get here a FF account and put in as much identifying info as possible. I also applied to the TSA to get her off the list which worked. Took about 6 months. No problems since.

Again, don't sweat it.
