We are planning a trip for summer 2011 and I'm having a hard time deciding when to go. We can either go the week of May 15th or July 24th. Overall, I realize the crowds will be lower in May, but I want my kids to have the ability to see Fantasmic and the fireworks and everything. So I guess my question is, which would be busier - a weekend in May or weekdays in July? We are planning to go to DLR for 3 full days, and we are flexible on which 3 days of the week we go, so what is our best option to see everything but have the best crowd levels at the same time? I know a lot more about WDW than I do DLR, so I would appreciate all of your expert advice. TIA!!

The main thing I would do is wait for the Litte Mermaid to open, probably not by mid may but likely by late July.

We went the last week of July into the first part of August & thought it was a great time to go. It was busy (but DL seems busy all the time!!). We used FP's, got there early, took breaks, enjoyed the evenings & the weather was perfect!!
All the entertainment is running in the summer & we were glad we skipped spring break this year. I think during the spring break time it's actually busier!!
Local AP's are blocked at that time, so it does play into the crowd levels!!

Who knows what will happen in 2011 but we went July 26-30 this year and crowds were not that bad.

Thanks so much for your input! I think we'll go for the July week. That week also happens to be my son's 2nd birthday, so what better way to spend it than in Disneyland?!
