Microwave Rental

My fiance and I are currently booked at AKL in a 1 bedroom DVC Suite. We chose that location strictly because it has a microwave in the room. I'm now thinking we don't need a full kitchen and was looking to spend a little less. I can stay at Poly or BC for almost 3K less. Since these are non-DVC rooms I looked into renting a microwave via one of the vendors that rents strollers.

My question is - are we going to have problems with housekeeping having a microwave in the room? Has anyone rented one of these before? Anyone have an experience they can share?

Disney doesn't allow cooking in hotel rooms unless they have a kitchen or kitchenette.

If you don't need a one bedroom, how about booking a studio? They have kitchenettes that include a toaster, coffee pot and microwave oven.

You can't have a microwave in a hotel room.

Try and book a studio for cash, it is usually not that much more than a hotel room at those resorts.

Look into renting points for a studio. We did that for an August trip and stayed at the boardwalk. It cost about the same as POR.

That's funny; I've had a microwave brought to my room at a Marriott in the past, and lots of hotel chains have a microwave in the room (and not a kitchenette).

I did a google search, and apparently Disney frowns upon this though. If there is a food court with a microwave, you can use that.

I can reply about the Beach Club- the resort has a limited number of microwaves available upon request, based on availability, free of charge. You can ask at the desk or call housekeeping when you arrive. I'm not sure whether rental microwaves are allowed in the guest rooms or not. Good question.

ETA: as @GADisneyDad14 points out below, the Beach Club Marketplace has a microwave available for guest use as well.

For Poly, similar to what @natebenma said about BC, I’m under the impression that a microwave is available upon request in the resort rooms (limited availability). Big caveat in that I have no personal experience requesting one and this may just be something in my head that is wrong, but I thought I’ve read this in the past.

There is a microwave available at Captain Cooks, FYI.

Disney do not want people bringing in microwaves and plugging them in willy nilly.
