Loved your intro! You have a beautiful familly. I hate your mom can't go this time, but I think she has done great to be able to go with you guys before. I don't know that I could do all that walking at her age. Heck, I can hardly do it now!

I think that is great that your SIL can go with you this time. I would have totally paid their way if they were my kids too. What price can you put on that family time? None in my book... it is priceless! Oh an I love her hair cut shorter and straightened! I liked it long too, but it is really cute shorter.

I love that you tell the whole story about your family, or as you said the good, the bad, and the ugly. I think that's how it should be. I don't want to read a TR that has been 'sanitized' where they tell you that everything is perfect and blissful, when we all know, that's not reality. And kudos to you for sharing the Christian aspect of your family's life! I know some people frown on including such things on the DIS, but I think it's your story and you should be free to tell it fully. I've always said that if any of the mods ever reprimanded me for including such things in my PTR or TR, then I'd have to let the DIS go, because I won't deny the Lord who paid it all for me!

Can't wait to read all about your plans! You are going to love that cruise! I'm so excited for you about that part! And I can't wait to hear what you think of POR when you get back!

Welcome to my pre-trip report! Guess I need to do the standard post of who, what, when, where, and how.

The STANDARD?! Oh you far surpassed standard!! What an incredibly, talented writer you are! Loved the pics and humor. I needed a good laugh and you dished it out!

Now I have a new family quest, jump shots!

We are a break out and dance family too, well not so much a we, but our little guy definately is. He literally does the happy dance often. Gotta love those fiber optic lights and pattern at Future World!! How do people just walk right over them and resist their invitation?!

We have a May trip planned too, but looking at the tickers it doesn't look like there is overlap with yours.

You are too kind! I hear so many depressing stories at my work (remember, I'm a paralegal in a family law, a/k/a divorce/custody, firm) and I need a laugh or two myself.

Oh Anakin would look great doing jumping shots! I'll forewarn you though that it sometimes takes several shots to get a halfway decent one. I keep on trying though....just ask my tired kids.

Welcome! I agree with you...you can't put a price on family memories! That's exactly why John and I work so hard to make a little extra money here and there so we can spend it on our family.

Our family is what it is....the good, the bad, the ugly and, let's not forget, the embarassing.

Thank you for commenting on my sharing our beliefs. I am very blessed to have such a wonderful family who has strong Christian beliefs. I've seen some threads get really ugly when a person has posted something about their faith or their lack thereof. Like you, I'd have to give up the Dis if someone told me I couldn't speak my mind. Having said all that, you won't see me trying to force my beliefs on anyone nor will I ever become "preachy". To me, that's a good way to turn someone off and that's certainly not what I would want to ever do.

I made it over from the May club

AWESOME start!!!!!! I feel so connected to you! We have a lot in common. hope that doesn't freak you out and make you feel stalked or anything b/c i'm really not like that

Where to start!!! I love the choking pics!! especially the one of John choking you!!! and the jumping shots reminded me that DD wants to do either some planking shots or small video clips all over the place on our trip of a dance she likes.

my DD is 14 also and we are leary for the scary transition into highschool next year. She will be going to a local Christian school. We are very much looking forward to her going on mission trips starting in grade 10 as it's such a WONDERFUL experience for them isn't it? And man!! Will she be jealous when i tell her your SIL handed out Toms!!!
Our teens have a few things in common too besides age - my dd gets GREAT marks as well and is also on the student councel (helping out with social events), she's an INCREDIBLE musician and gets awards and summer camp scholarships every year for her talent in playing french horn and trumpet (unfortunately this year her interest had dwindled which has me heart broken but that's another story). SOO sounds like we go through alot of the same things in life right now.

Another thing we have in common is traveling with grandma We have taken my mom and DH's mom to WDW and my mom went with us to Hawaii too. This go around we will be without grandmas too


Anyway, with all the stuff in common I KNOW I'm going to enjoy following along It's too bad our trips aren't the same time though. Would have been cool to bump into you somewhere.

OH!! and thanks for the bug tip - i will definitely try it out and see if it works. We live in a place known for AWEFUL mosquito problems!!! It's just that it takes us SOOO long to get to that part of the year b/c half our year is snow

Welcome! Wow! We do have a lot of things in common don't we? I can't imagine having snow for half a year. We are jumping around all over the place if we see a single snowflake fall.

They are doing good. It's a huge adjustment though! For everyone! I'm sure we will get back into the swing of things once I'm up and moving like my old self again! Thank goodness DH has the next 2 weeks off!!! I don't know what or how I would do it without him!!!!

I am sure it will take a while for everybody to adjust. And, like you said, once you get to moving around again, things will go more smoothly.

WHAT​

Now that I’ve got the “Who” over and done with, I guess it’s time for me to talk about the “What”. I’m guessing that you are a pretty smart bunch of folks and, since this is a Disney discussion forum, you’ve figured out by now that we’re going to....say the answer all together on the count of 3:

What’s that you say? The title of the trip report says something about the Bahamas? Oh yeah, it does doesn’t it? We are also going on a cruise, our first, on the Disney Dream to the Bahamas!

WHEN​

Wow, I made short work of the “what” section and am feeling mighty proud of myself . As you can tell from my intro, I am a very chatty, wordy sort of gal. Finishing up that what section up there like I did is very very unusual for me. I think I’ll give myself a little pat on the back.

Our travel dates have stayed the same but the plans themselves have changed so many times that I can’t count them all despite the fact that I am holding out my two hands and feet to count the changes on.

So, what are our travel dates? They are May 22nd to June 2nd.

WHERE​

Okie dokie, let me talk about the “where”. There’s a lotta “where”s so bear with me.

Number 1 Where: The mosquito infested State of Louisiana. That’s “where” we are starting out.

No, we’re not flying via mosquito to the land of dole whips and Mickey bars. We’re driving and driving and driving and driving......about 15 hours of driving.

Number 2 Where: Is where we will be staying pre-cruise and that’s at a new resort for us....Port Orleans Riverside.

Number 3 Where: Port Canaveral and the Disney Dream!

Number 4 Where: Nassau

Number 5 Where: Castaway Cay

Number 6 Where: Back to Port Canaveral

Number 7 Where: Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort

Number 8 Where: Back to Louisiana

Whew! I don’t know about ya’ll but I’m plum tuckered out from all those wheres. Think I’ll rest up a bit before I start on the “how”.

We had wanted to do a cruise this time around too but DH ended up booking a destination wedding while we are down there and added on Busch so we vetoed the cruise idea. I'm quite happy with 19 days in sunny Florida though It'll give us a nice early start to summer!! Sure hope to do a cruise some day though. Is this your first cruise? Or are you a cruisin veteran?

I love the mosquito cartoon . We grow 'em pretty big around these neck of the woods too. If you ever want to keep from being bitten, just have me around. I seem to be some kind of mosquito magnet. I will be eaten up and everybody else will be bite-less .

Oooooh!!! A land and sea vacation!! That's awesome!!

We use to stay at POR alot!! At one point it was my favorite resort. Back when attendance was low we use to be able to get a standard room for $79 a night.

That mosquito picture is funny! Do you have "no see ums" like we have here, or you just grow them big?

Some help for ya. Those pics of the dream are pretty cool....we took these from the CG station across the bay from the cruise terminals.

Was when it was first here, and that thing is HUGE!!!! We saw the lights coming over the first bridge just before getting on Merritt Island!! Awesome ship, very pretty!!! we were gonna book a cruise for my step daughter's 16th birthday this year in October, but the military has different plans for us, so no cruise.

I love all the "wheres" as usual, awesome writing girl!!!

Aww, no fair! You get to start two days before us!!!

We are leaving the 24th at about 2pm, I hope. It's the last day of school, so we are letting Bella ride the bus home so that she can be in the bus parade at school. Really, it's just the school busses doing a couple laps around the parking lot while the kids hang their heads out of the windows and yell and scream at their friends. But she's 9, so it's cool.

We are overnighting in Orlando and then heading down to Disney's Vero Beach Resort for part of Memorial Day weekend and then up to BCV for the rest of the week.

We'll be on the lookout for your group!


By the way, can you keep a secret? We ended up booking a Disney cruise for Spring Break 2013 about a month ago. It will be our first Disney cruise and we haven't told the girls yet. We are going on the Fantasy! I'm already trying to plan for that and it's over a year away! I'm such a nerd.
