Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party

I booked a 4 night Dream cruise with points and then had the nightmare of changing it because my husband got a new job. The only cruise we could get to replace it was a 3 night because everything else was booked. I do not want to go to Florida for such a short time when plane tickets are pretty high. So my plan was adding 1 night at DVC and taking my kids to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. The day we would want to go is December 18th. So my question is: When do they announce the dates? Do you think it will be before the 7 month window? What do you think my chances are that they will have it that night? Thanks for any insight we have never done Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, but we do not have Disney tickets budgeted for this trip. Thanks!

We went to MVMCP last year and I don't think tickets were available until August. In 2010, the last night they had the party was 12/19/10, which was the Sunday before Christmas. I would suspect that they would have the party this year on 12/18, since that is the Sunday before Christmas this year. If so, I would think that you would want to get those tickets as soon as they are available, since it would be the final party. It was alot of fun, although we were there during the cold spell last year, so it was really cold that evening! We drank lots of the hot chocolate!!

Thanks so much for the info! I will go ahead and make the reservations for DVC at 7 months and hope! We were there after the cold spell last year and we were happy we missed it! I am hoping I get good luck again this year.

Why wait until the 7 month mark? With it being the holidays and a popular time to travel, don't you want to book at your home now and then switch to something else at 7 months, if available?

We have used all of our BWV and only have HHI points right now.

I actually did this last year with my daughter. We were able to do it all within the 7 months window with no problem. We flew down on Wednesday and stayed at BWV in a 1 BDRM. This was followed by the 3 day cruise (on the wonder). On Sunday, we stayed in a 1 BDRM at VWL, which was convenient for the MVMCP. The party is lots of fun and you can enter as early as 4 PM to do the rides that are not open during the party. Attendance is limited, so you can pretty much walk on any ride after it officially begins at 7 PM. The only problem we encountered was limited food service, which was pretty limited. If burgers and chickent strips aren't your thing, I beleive the Crystal Palace stayed open, but you really needed reservations.

I did need to call at regular intervals to get the rooms at BWV and VWL, but I always had a spot at either OKW or SSR from the start of the 7 month period. To make it easy, we rented a car at the airport to go to BWV and dropped it off at the port. Coming back, we rented at the port and then dropped it at the airport. We had a great time and it took the edge off the 3 day cruise feeling so rushed. This was our fifth cruise, after three 7 day cruises on the Magic and one four day cruise on the Wonder. The three day seemed very rushed after those, but it still was very enjoyable. We treated Nassau as a sea day and only went off the ship briefly to buy some souveniers in the Straw Market.

IIRC, I believe MVMCP tickets were available by May in 2010... It was Candlelight Processional that didn't become available until August.
