We are going in mid December and there may be a party while we are there. My question is how practical is it to think that my 4 kids (8,7,5,almost 3) will get anything out of it? I know about the parade and the rides, but even with a nap I am afraid they will dog tired. I would love to hear from anyone who has gone.

Thanks

Well, I can't talk really about kids those ages, but we took my then 22 month old this past December and it was great! We just spent the day relaxing and hanging out at the Wilderness Lodge, took an extra long nap, etc. He did great! In fact, we stayed to the very end and he was happy as a clam. He loved the parade and the fireworks and he went nuts for the snow on Main Street. He also really loved the shows - especially the one at the castle. I would definately do it again! We had the best time!! We didn't really do the rides, as we had done them all earlier in the week. We just concentrated on the special Christmas Party stuff, which is really what I reccomend.

We took my kids (12,11,10,7) this past Dec. while they loved it they were either asleep or dead on there feet by midnight....We stayed for the midnight stage show and it was too late after a long day...

We took our daughter for her 4th birthday and our son was 8 months old. Our daughter absolutley loved it...for a while. She got tired, of course. But I am sooo glad we did it because it was absolutley wonderful! She loved the snow on main street and the cookies and hot cocoa. I think she'll remember it forever. :flower:

We also have been to the Halloween party in 2004,almost a year later, and the kids stayed awake through that whole thing, all the way til midnight.

My DD was 13 months when we took her to MVMCP this past December. We did two parties and just did as much as we could. We stayed until after the second parade one night but left a little earlier the other. She enjoyed it immensely. And I would say it was definitely worth it. Oh...we just tried to plan a long nap the day of and slept in the day after. It worked for us....but we did just have one child and she didn't require a ticket which probably helped with the decision to go and go twice (we have went in December two years before this and always go and knew it was worth it for us pre-Sammi - and it turned out to be post-Sammi :) )

Whenever we do anything with our kids, DS 11, DD 11 (yes twins) and DD 10, that is going to be late at night we take a break back at the hotel before dinner. We suggest naps to them but at least if they lay down and relax then they aren't tired and crabby. With the ages they are now we are usually at the parks (especially the MK) late at night when there are shorter lines.

well i hate to be te negative one, but i hated the party, the best part was the parade, my dtr was tired and it was crowded i went in dec also, there was nothing we needed to ride that we could not ride during the day, dtr was cranky, so i would never do the mvmcp again for me it was not worth the money

I agree with HappyLawyer. We were in Disney the first week of Dec. The crowds were light during the day, and we got to see and ride everything as often at we liked. The MVMCP however, was much more crowded than during the day. You had to get to shows over a 1/2 hour early and still there were no seats. Ended up standing for the Night Before Christmas Show. Tried to get a seat for the other showtimes, and the same thing. I for one don't want to spend that kind of money and then spend an hour sitting in the theater waiting for the show to start. The parade was good, but it's not worth the money to see a christmas parade.
Don't take it the wrong way, I know some people really enjoyed it, but for me it was too crowded. I never once bumped into anyone during the day when we were walking down the streets, but during the party it was wall to wall people. It took forever to walk from one place to another. I will say, that the lines for some rides were short. Haunted Mansion was a walk on , and Big Thunder Mountain we were allowed to stay on for 3 rides in a row. Others, were very long. Pooh and Dumbo were over 30 minutes, and the Raceway cars were over 40minutes. So there were good and bad points, but overall, for us it wasn't worth the money.

We went with our then 8 year old son and had a blast. We went to one of the other parks during the day, went back to the room around 3 and spent a cpouple hours lounging around the pool. Went back to the park at 7pm and stayed till they closed it up. We had a great timme. My husband said it was the best part of the trip.

Thank you for all the replies. I know that I am counting my chickens before they are hatched in terms of assuming that there will be a party. But it was interesting to see all the opinions. I have discussed it with my husband and I think that we are leaning towards the not going, but i don't know i change my mind everyday.

Thanks again.

They should be fine. My main piece of advice is make the MVMCP day a day off. Hang out at the pool, rest, and relax. The first few years we did it, we toured most of the day in a park and then took a power nap before the party. The alst few years we have found taking the day off and having a nice breakfast, day at the pool with weather permitting and then a fun early dinner make it a better night for all. This past Dec we had three families kids were 3, 8, 12, 14, and 15, the three year was a real trooper the 2nd night the first night not so much.
