Hello,

I have never gone to this, but we always are at Disney at Xmas... is it worth it? Can someone give me some info on it.

I will be curious to hear others opinions. When you think about it being in addition to all the other Dis expenses, it just seems like it's kind of expensive. I went online last night to buy tix and then backed out because I wasn't sure if it was worth the money or not.

Okay, you are going to get multiple opinion views of this but, you must take it into perspective. Some love the Christmas holidays while some are just "so so" about them.

I love Christmas time. I like the spirit of the season. If you are like that, you would like it.

First off, you get 5 hours in the park during this time. Main Street USA is turned into a glitzy type of area for the party. It's nothing but Christmas music playing throughout the park (all over the park). Snow on Main Street which will really throw you into the mood. You are on main Street with carolers singing, snow falling, Christmas music playing, and everything is decked out.

The parade is the special parade, the fireworks are the special fireworks. You get all you can eat cookies and cocoa around the park.

It's all about interest. Before listening to someone say "it's not worth it" or "it's great" take it into perspective how you feel about the holidays. If you love the Christmas season, it's worth it.

I find the rides and time in the park secondary to all of the Christmas activity during this time. It's just a perfect start to the holidays and REALLY throws you into the mood of the season.

I completely agree with civileng68! It is all about the feeling you get. It is still the Magic Kingdom that you can go to every other day, but the feeling in the park during the party is completely different than on a regular night. It really gets DH and I ready for Christmas. This year will be our 4th time going and we just love it.

I wondered the same thing. It's a lot of extra money, so I debated whether or not it was worth it. But I finally decided to give it a try because I don't know when or if we'll get another chance to visit WDW during the christmas season. And I know if I decided not to try it, I'd just be wishing I had.

Thank you so much Civileng for that!! I always heard "don't go" or "go". That is a great perspective!! I wound up buying our tickets (and got them today in fact). And after reading your post, I'm so glad I did this!!! Christmas is going to be very small this year b/c of our big trip to WDW. So I'm definitely glad I got tickets to get my kids into a Christmas mood!! Thanks!!!

Last year we did MVMCP for the first time. We kind of ran into special circumstance that made it worth every penny and even more! I got sick and we missed an entire day in the parks. This gave us valuable make-up time. We didn't join in the festivities, rather we ran from ride to ride (I say ran but more like I dragged myself!). We wanted to make up everything we had missed. It was really fun though, I had a great time! And we did get some cookies and hot chocolate.
This year we scheduled for it again. I want to see the parade this year and maybe get a picture. But I just like that we can stay in the park til midnight! Also the snow on Mainstreet is cool. As soon as you get off the monorial, depending on the direction of the wind, you'll start seeing it. I love Christmas though and this just made my night last year.

Yeah I really believe if you enjoy the Christmas season you'll really like the MVMCP.

They turn all of the backgroun music throughout the park to Christmas music, so no matter where you go you hear the Christmas music playing. They do special showings of the stage show typically, they have a special show in Tomorrowland with all the Disney characters.

The thing I just really enjoyed was going on Main St and getting swarmed in the Christmas mood. It just completely sucks you in and you just become part of it. It really is a neat experience.

Again though, some who are not in the same view about Christmas as me obviously would possibly feel different.

I just think it's a great experience.

Speaking of the park staying open until midnight. I just figured I'd let some of you in on something...........I'm am a serious amateur photographer and I stayed in the park after the midnight closing and walked the park taking photos. After around 12:30 they closed off the access to the various lands but, I was able to stay around fantasyland and Main St. USA until 1:15. In fact, when I left at 1:15, I was seemingly the only guest in the park and I was still not forced out. Of course, if you dont get out for the monorail you may have to find a way back to the TTC but, it's not a big worry for us.

When we got to the TTC our car was the only one left in the lot except for a broken down van.

The CM's were so nice to us. When we were in the park (my wife and I) my wife was getting nervous on Main St with us still being there since there were about 20 CM's on Main St coming out to clean. They were obviously starting the night cleaning. Well the CM's, even at this hour were offering to take our photo for us, so it's obvious they didn't mind.

By the way, if you plan on riding rides during the party, I would suggest making the most of the festivities, since you can't do them everyday. Spend the first couple hours just enjoying the atmosphere and the doing the rides later in the night.

Even if the party is crowded, by 11:00 you'll be surprised how things start to clear out and you can ride whatever you like.

I second that. We stayed in the Pooh's gift shop til 12:30 talking to the girls working there. They said they close around 12:30 but the CM can't leave until 2:30 or later.

Oh another thing I want this year is sourvenire from the party. They only sell them during the party hours from my understanding and I think only in the shop on Main Street. Is that correct? Man, we missed out on a lot last year.

Please don't come down on me to hard, but we are not going. Here is why:
princess: pirate: First the DD and DS are 6 and 9 and after two days in the park I don't think they would make it until ten, even with a nap.
:Pinkbounc We are staying at the Polynesian and I am hoping to be able to watch the 'special' fireworks from the beach with whatever family member is still up.
:wizard: The parks are decorated for Christmas for this time of year already. Even though the MVMCP has a ton more decorations, there are tons to see everyday anyway.
 And, the cost. With the Poly and the Dining plan we had to draw the line somewhere.

If it is any consolation we are going to the Candlelight Processional.

Happy Holidays :santa: ,

Maz

I bought tickets to go this year and was hoping on getting into the MK around 4PM with the MVMCP ticket and stay until midnight that way I wouldn't have to use a regular park ticket to see the MK.

Hey! Let's flame him! Just joking. You have every right to feel like that and I know many feel that way. I think again, it all comes down to how much you really love the time of the season.

I can attest that the atmosphere in the park is much different during the party than during normal hours. However, I also know that some kids just can't go the whole time. This is why I mention that typically about midway through the party, the park starts thinning out (which I like). If you can't go for the whole party, yeah it might not be the best money spent during your trip.

I just loved the atmosphere during the park. The lights on main st. were changed and the colors were lots of red and green, snow on Main Street and the music, cookies and cocoa. I just think it's great.

Even though it's not my primary reason, I just enjoy being in the park at night. I really cherish time in the MK after dark and many times outside of peak season you just dont get to do it for very long. This allows you the chance to spend really about 6 hours in the MK in the dark hours.

Everyone feels differently about things but, I can say this......If you've never been, you have to go at least do it once, then you can make your mind up after that.

I would not think twice about it if I have not been yet. notice how opinions are split 50/50 on these parties? Well if you dont go for yourself, how can you be sure which side you stand on?

I also wanted to add that last year we bought our tickets on a Sunday for the party that Tuesday. We just waited til we got to WDW to buy them and it wasn't sold out. This year we bought them in advance but I hope it's on the slower side like last year. It was Tuesday and crowds weren't bad at all.

I have tickets for 2 nights this year! How crazy is that?

We went 2 years ago and at first I hated it, Main Street was so crowded, jammed packed. but once the crowd dispersed it was awesome, we did tons of rides with hardly any wait. We saw the parade over by pecos bills, saw the christmas country bear jamboree, and walked down main street with the snow falling :)

Never did see cookies or cocoa though, where was that at? This year I will be sure to locate it.

Like I said, I have 2 nights booked - we won't stay until the very end, just get in a few hours of extra magic. I would recommend you try it if it doesn't put a financial strain on you, it is meant to be fun, not cause you hardship.
