Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party - Is it Worth It?

Do you think a two yr. old would be scared?

We went last year when my DD was 2 1/2. She loved it!! She was never scared and most enjoyed getting autographs from all the characters (there are more than usual). We got tons of premium chocolate candy. The parade was great and I was singing the "Happy Boo To You" song for weeks.

With little ones, make sure to take a stroller. Our DD crashed after a couple hours and my husband & I were able to keep going until late while she slept in the stroller.

Lots of people dress us. My DD was tinkerbell and my DH & I just wore Halloween t-shirts. The most memorable costume I saw was a slightly overweight man dress as tinkerbell. It was hysterical!! Another tip, I would bring a back-up comfortable outfit for your kids. My DD was tired of her wings and all after about an hour.

We are going again next year and can't wait! We planned to dates so we could make it back for MNSSHP.

I'm a newbie it's great to be here. Off to WDW next October(2007 that is) am fascinated by the Halloween party how do you go about booking this ? My daughter and I have been to DLRP 6 times but never WDW so bit apprenhensive about the magnitude of planning involved to get the best out of Disney. All help greatfully received

Hello. The party is a must for us now. We went last year, and loved it. The magic always seems to amaze me, a grown woman and mommy who has visited every year since 2nd grade.

Anyway, this party is more than amazing. A true fan can spend the whole time on Main Street and consider it time well spent.

We just came back from a wonderful trip last month, and decided we couldn't miss the party this year, and quickly rebooked for mid Oct.

Anyone considering it, with children, or without, this is the event to see. You will find true Disney fans, locals, adults who still feel the magic thriving in this atmosphere! Very high energy, very exciting. A must see!

My advice would be not to do too much during the day. Maybe hit the pool. But definitely save your energy for the evening!

Very much worth it!!!!! We just got back, attended the 9/29 MNNSHP, which was Sold Out. It was our 1st time. We hung out at our pool and had a relaxing late lunch/early dinner and then we entered MK in costume at 5:00 pm with only our party tickets.

It was very crowded in the park but the ride lines were 10-20 minute wait. The parade and fireworks are awesome!!! The only criticism we had was the lines for the characters and picture with Cinderella's coach (and I assume the Doom Buggy) were SOOOOOO long......they should consider adding more of these stations to future parties.

In hind-sight, we should have made getting to characters and cinderella/doom buggy picture a priority and done that first thing, before big crowds, although I am not sure that would have helped........

We are going to our first MNSSHP on the 17th, and can't wait. It sounds like so much fun. The kids are going in theme...Alladin characters. Dh and I are just wearing MNSSHP shirts (design from someone on the Design board).

The schedule and tickets were available right around May 1, if I'm remembering correctly. You get the advance tickets by calling WDW directly. They give you the option of having them mailed, or you can pick them up when you get there. You can also wait and get tickets once you are in WDW, but some of the parties do sell out, so you will need to be careful of that.

We were just at MNSSHP on 10/2. I would do the later parade so you can ride many of the rides early in the night. Many people walked in and parked their backside down to wait for the first parade.

We did many of the rides and got candy in lines that weren't long. We then found seats near the castle for the Wishes and then stayed there and watched the Villians show in front of the castle, and then the parade. After the parade we headed back and rode Splash Mtn and BTR. Got tons of candy!

As for costumes, we saw many adults and children dress up. We purchased halloweeen t-shirts for the girls at World of Disney in the afternoon. It was still very warm, so keep that in mind if you do costumes.

I felt sorry for all the small children who were just beat. My girls are older, and are night owls, so for us it was great. Don't plan anything for the next day because you will be tired.

All in all, I would do it again. It was great to have the 5 minute lines for all the rides that normally you either need to fast pass, or have long waits. I enjoyed thie fireworks and tha parade as well.

We just got back from WDW, with 3 kids in tow, 14, 11, and 3yo. I'd say most of the kids were dressed up in costume, if they weren't most had some kind of Disney Halloween t-shirt or sweat shirt on. The night we attended my wife and I guess about 80% of adults came in costume, that was some of the most entertaining people watching I have ever done!! Plenty of pirates and pirate families, we even saw a family of 6 all dressed as the Incredables!

Our 3yo had a great time and wasn't scared at all. Usually I'm not much of a parade person but this one really caught my eye and ears, the music was catchy and flowed well with the parade. CM's actually hand out a little bit of candy at the end of the parade, but for $35 a head we weren't there to get Wonka candy that you can buy at the stores. Make sure if you do plan to collect candy you get a special orange treat bag, they won't just hand candy out to you unless you have one, and you have to get them at the park entrance! Don't forget that! We liked this party better than the Christmas one!! We'll come back to this one in a heartbeat! As noted some rides are closed. Plenty of decorations on Main Street, make sure to look up on the buildings there are pumkins in the windows, free face painting but get in lline fast, CM's take your picture but we didn't wait for that, unlike when we attended the Christmas party, it just seemed like a long wait for a picture you had to pay for. Lines went fast for the candy later in the evening, rides lines were about right after the first parade. We didn't do everything that was offered but did enjoy the amazing fireworks. My wife missed the headless horseman, but I got to see him right before the second parade while I was watching our 3yo, who was sound a sleep. Next time we adults would dress up and join the party, it was a hoot for the kids!! My 11yo son came as a slice of pizza and you should have heard the CM's and other guests make comments. Several CM's stopped him just to tell him how much they liked his costume, it made his entire trip!

Was it worth the extra $35 bucks? HECK YES!! Oh, and go early, they let us in at 5-ish but I'm sure you could have gotten in a little sooner.
The entire night was hauntingly magicial!

Mom and I just participated in our first one recently a few weeks ago. At best I can say Yes. But don't expect the rides to be open after seven though.

Everyone was too busy getting candy or watching the parade.

Still it was fun.

We did MNSSHP on the 23rd and it was AWESOME! I LOVED it. The fireworks were the best I've seen. The trick or treating was fun. There was more chances to meet face characters and others. I loved the way the lights made the Magic Kingdom look more spooky. I loved the way Main Street USA looked with the witches and bat lights moving around. It was the BEST part of my trip! DS and DH were able to go on rides that normally the lines were too long for. It was a wonderful time for all. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I am going to work on DH to schedule another trip for 2008 and you can bet we will go to see MNSSHP again!
