We just booked a trip for the first week in October. We went to the Very Merry Christmas party in November when we were there and loved it!!

Is the Halloween Party as much fun? It Will be myself and DS age 14.

I went to MNSSHP last October & loved it. I don't do many (if any) hard ticket events but found this was incredible & well worth the money. If you schedule the party for your day off, consider making 3 MK FP+ betw 4-6pm and hit those when you first arrive. You can enter MK at 4pm with your party ticket and enjoy a few extra early hrs b/f the party really starts to kick into gear. Maybe grab a quick CS meal at Columbia Harbour House & then get to Haunted Mansion. Highlights for me were 1) Halloween overlay at Haunted Mansion & having a close up visit with Madam Carlotta on the front lawn 2) Hocus Pocus stage show and 3) the parade. Best extra $ event I have attended at WDW. Enjoy!

I've never been to the Christmas party, but we loved MNSSHP. They have the special parade, fireworks, stage show, Trick or treating, unique Magic Shots, rare characters (waits can be long though), the castle is lit up differently and there is fog (at least in Adventureland). All the guests dressed up was a fun part too last year, but that my be a little less with changes in adult costume rules.
The main reasons we aren't doing it this year is our kids are young and crash early and our trip is short. If you like Halloween, I would expect you to enjoy the party. It can feel a crowded at times though with everyone wanting to be in the same areas for shows/parades/etc.

If you liked the Christmas party, I have a strong feeling you will like the Halloween party. Parade, shows, less people in the park.... What is not to love? I really enjoyed people's costumes. Some people go all out. Simply amazing. I hope that does not change.

With your DS being 14, you can stay out until the party ends (not likely if you have little ones).

We have been to both and we just LOVE LOVE LOVE MNSSHP!!! The costumes, the parade, the trick & treating and HALLOWISHES! We had the most amazing time and cannot wait to go again in September!

I'm in the minority, but we did the MNSSHP last year and didn't love it. It was just as busy as the regular day crowds (late September party date) and the lines for characters were crazy long. Hallowishes was amazing - leaps and bounds above any other fireworks show I've seen at WDW. But, that's not worth it for us.

With all that said, I know a lot of people that love it and if you like the Christmas party, then you'll likely like the Halloween party. Just go into it with expectations to not get on every single ride and just take your time doing a few things, rather than trying to squeeze in a bunch of stuff.

We've done MVMCP twice and MNSSHP 4x. I'm actually a bigger Christmas lover than Halloween but the Halloween party is my absolute favorite thing about Disney and I love love LOVE it 100x more than the Christmas party!! The vibe around the whole park is awesome; the Boo To You parade is the best parade of ALL parades and I think the best thing about MNSSHP. Everything about it is great, although I have to say back when they did the quick M&G with the villains after their stage show it was fantastic and I missed that the last time we went.
I didn't go last year so I have yet to see the new Hocus Pocus stage show but the videos I've seen look amazing and all reports I read said it was great. As other posters said, if you enjoyed the Christmas party I'm sure you love the Halloween party. And your son is a great age for it.
