Can someone tell me about Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade....DH and I are usually done with everything at AK by lunchtime....is it worth it to either come back to AK another day or stay until 4 to see this parade???

Background info: DH and I usually do AK the first day, only spending 1/2 day there and not going back. I have told DH that I would like to see some of the parades on this trip, since the last 2 trips we haven't seen any (which means I have NEVER seen any)...

Proposal: I have suggested that instead of spending the entire first day at AK, we come back another day after lunch and see the parade before heading to our dinner ADRs...the only problem is the one day we would possibly be able to swing this our ADR is at Kona at 5:30....would we be able to watch the parade at 4, get a bus, and get to the Poly by 5:30????

HELP! I really want to see this parade....is it worth the trouble I would be going through to see it???

After numerous trips, during our last one, we specifically stayed at AKL one day in order to see the parade. It was a decent parade, but after seeing it once, I won't feel so inclined to see it again in the future. It really wasn't very special, unless you just happen to be a parade fanatic.

Ya know after all the times we have been to Disney, this is ONE parade that we have never seen!! We're always out of there by 2 or so..this year it is on my TO DO LIST! Even if it's just SO SO, I really am ashamed to call myself a member of the DIS without ever seeing it! :rolleyes1

I agree with the notnothin the parade is worth seeing once, if you could slow down your day at AK and watch it that might be good, but to make a special trip over just for the parade, I would'nt, and I don't think you could leave AK and make it to poly, especially if you use disney trans. All that said I know we go to AK at least 10 x's a year, and we can stay busy at AK till 4:00, With the shows (bird show is vey good), walking the trails to look at animals, going over to CS, eating lunch.

We enjoy it the Jungle Jammin' Parade, but not with our hearts beating or lumps in throat. (Come to think of it, the only parade which ever did that to me is the original Main Street Electrical Light Parade, (which I grew up with).

If you go to youtube.com and type in jungle jammin' parade, you'll find someone who's posted their 5 part footage. They interspersed images from the lion king cartoons with the parade, but you'll see much of the footage, and have a very good idea if you want to see it or not.

I would think you could make it to Kona within the window for your ADR with no problem.

Of all the trips we've made the the World we've never seen this parade! This year we'll probably go see it!
3 DAYS!!!!!

Even though we have been to AK many times we have never seen this parade either..usually we are at the park at opening and by 1-2pm it is just too dang hot to stay any longer and we have seen and done all we want to do at the park. We will just see how the weather is when we go, my DH is not much for parades so it will be hard to convince him to stay if it is hot...

I love this parade. The colors are fabulous and it has a wonderful soundtrack. If anything, at least go see it once. :thumbsup2

We finally saw JJ for the first time a few trips ago. It was okay but I wouldn't make a special trip to see it (JMHO).

We also saw it, accidently, last Sept. while waiting for it to pass so we could get to KS on p.m. EMH one day.

If you want to see it maybe you can combine it with an p.m. EMH. Just know that KS closes at 5 even on EMH nights.

It's a high energy, character full, colorful musical parade. my kids and myself love it...........i go just to see it...

We stayed for the parade, and then headed for AKL for a 6:30 Boma reservation. We were so early. I think 5:30 is doable. I'd probably go for 6:00, though, just to be safe. We hung out in the lobby for a while to cool down from the parks and look a little more human before going to a nice restaurant. Then, headed down. Despite it being way before our ADR time, they still seated us right away.

If you stake out a parade viewing spot near the front entrance of the park, you'll see the parade fairly early, and be right there at the exit to slip out to your bus. We found a shady spot along the tape line just outside the door to the big souvenir shop.

Here are some pics to help you decide.

What about the Christmas version of this parade? I have talked DH into adding the Hopper option to our tickets so we can hop over to see it. Thanks Kat

Nice pictures (btw, I know some of the puppeteers in them).

They have ADRs for konas at poly at 5:30 that would be very close, if they watched it from KS in the back where it starts from and left right away, and were lucky enuogh to get a bus real quick, then maybe, I wouldn't try it though.
Those are some good pics. makes me kinda what to see it again.
