DH and I consider ourselves rather adventurous when it comes to rides, and there usually isn't a ride that we won't try even once. I've heard stories about people feeling ill after MFW's swinging cars. We'll have DD2 with us. In your opinion/experience, what should we do? The swinging seems to have a longer line most of the time.

There are barf-bag dispensers built into the sides of the swinging carts and this ride has a nickname of "Mickey's Death Wheel". I think that's all I need to say ;)

Call me a baby or chicken.. But that ride freaked me out.. I was crying the whole time cause I was so scared haha

I didn't feel ill, but I do have a small fear of heights that was definitely affecting me in the swinging gondolas. I can ride normal ferris wheels without a problem, but the swinging added a whole other dimension.

I don't particularly want DD to be deathly afraid of ferris wheels...perhaps we'll skip this or scope it out during the rider swap time for CS. Of course, she'll probably be just as content going on the carousel a second time.

ROFL! Great reply, sonnyjane! Yep, that just about covers it! :rotfl:

May I suggest the non-swinging cars for a pleasurable experience. :goodvibes

I don't care WHAT cute character they slap on that ride, it is STILL the WHEEL OF DEATH!!! LOL

Yes, in my family we call this Mickey's Wheel of Death:scared1:. I am deathly afraid of heights, but when we went to DL I promised myself that I would not skip any ride because of my fear(I can't even jump off a chair).I did not want to go home (after waiting so many years to get there)feeling dissapointed with myself, that I chickened out and missed out.So onto a swinging car we went. Was I scared.YES, Did I have fun.Yes.
You know your child better than anyone else. Maybe watch the wheel for a bit and then decide.Either way it is fun!

If you're worried about the swinging cars but really want to ride get on the line for the non-swinging cars. I don't mind the ride but if I had my choice I'd pick the non-swinging cars. Unfortunately the people I go with always
insist on riding in the swinging cars.

We rode this last March for the first time and my sons really wanted to swing, as a result, my wife and daughter rode the static and we were split up.

Wet got stuck with a couple of guys who thought it would be really fun if they helped us swing, which ruined the ride for us, but it was just ok until then. My wife loved the static ride, one of the best views in the park.

We LOVE the swinging cars!!! The kids all have loved them except once when DS was 10 months old and it totally freaked him out. I have some great pictures of my youngest DD laughing and screaming on them when she was 2.

My 2 and 5 year olds also love this ride. It's amazing that there's no height requirement or restraints at all. It's so much more wild a ride than say something like Soarin.

I won't ride TOT or Screamin' but I love the swinging cars on the fun wheel!! Can't wait to get back and ride them! :thumbsup2

I won't if you won't call me one!!! :rolleyes1 I was literally on the verge of having a meltdown in the STATIONARY CAR, lol. I'm not good with heights. Add being trapped in a metal box hanging over water, way up high in the air = anxiety attack!!!

I would definitely do the stationary cars if you have little ones. You don't want to be stuck w/ a screaming child for 15 min. (its a super long ride!!)

DH and I rode this with my sister and BIL and our nieces and nephews. My sister and I always sit out when the rest of the crew goes on ToT but we decided to try this one. We split up with all the boys in one cage and all the girls in another. While my sister and I were screaming our heads off (in a good way), my nieces were laughing at us. We watched the boys all get off and a couple of them were a little green. Round 1 of Mickey's Death Wheel goes to us girls! We'll see who wins the next round in September. :lmao:

I love ferris wheels. The NON swinging side is not scary and gives you a wonderful photo opportunity. The swinging side...I agree...Wheel of Death. If the gondola unbalanced weight wise, it provides a great swing back and forth, but scary. I was privileged to ride with my neighbor and her sons who are 6 foot plus and close to 200 pounds. That gondola was swinging, we were screaming...haven't been on that side since.

I loved it and would've loved it even more if DH wasn't terrified of heights. This was not his favorite and kept freaking out. I felt bad for him the whole time instead of enjoying it (and we were with two teenage boys we didn't know who thought it was hilarious to freak poor DH out.

Ugh. Would they make a party of 3 ride with strangers? DH hates ferris wheels, but if it prevents us from getting stuck with people who want to swing the cars more, I will have to drag him on with me, DD, and DS.

When DD was 3 Grandma and Granpa took her on this ride and she loved it! Told me how fun it was, I need to go on it, etc, etc. I'm reluctant because I don't like heights or ferris wheels. I screamed the whole time! There's no seat belt, I felt like I would go flying out of the cage.

Since then, I have been on it several more times with DD and I scream every time. I just can't help myself. It is the wheel of death! And I've never noticed barf bags. It doesn't make me feel sick at all, just scared to death!

You know what terrifies me FAR more than the ride? The fact that people DO puke on it. ROFL (I have emitophobia...working on that along with my germophobia LOL)
