This past spring 2009, my family and I had a fantasmic time at Mickey's Backyard BBQ at Disney's Wilderness Campground. The food was great, great seating locations - you can see the stage from anywhere you sit, and the music, tricks and Characters dancing with the kids were sweet. Would HIGHLY recommend Mickey's Backyard BBQ to anyone. We will be going there again Spring 2010. Can't wait!!!

Got our ressie in for the End of September (our Anniversary!).

Planning on embarrasing my wife by eating lots of food. :) (no no no not really)

I'm glad you enjoyed it! I have heard such mixed reviews on this I don't know whether I want to try or not.

My sister-in-law and family went in May and did it and were really disappionted with it. She actually complained to someone and got her table service credits back. Then my best friend went in July and she had a ressie for it and I told her what happened with my sister-in-law and sure enough my best friend was disappointed too! She said it is just not worth 2 ts credits. She said the worst thing is that there were so many people there that you could barely move. She said parents were practically shoving other kids out of the way to get their own kids closer to the characters.

I'm so hesitant to try it!

Don't count on just a few reviews.

Go HERE and read 45 reviews for the BBQ.

This is from allears...is this true about resort buses after bbq/hoop dee doo?

This was our first time visiting the BBQ but won't be the last. Plenty to eat and drink. The band was great and the trick roper was even better. I only wish the return transportation to the Disney resorts was available the same as for the Hoop-dee-do. We went to the early BBQ on Thursday and found out on Friday after the Hoop, that we could have waited 30 minutes and got a bus straight back to our resort. It took us about an hour after the BBQ to go to the outpost get a bus to downtown then another bus to our resort.

I will not comment on the entertainment-as it really was not my kind; but
others seemed to really enjoy it-the kids 2-9 ages seemed to be having the
time of there lives. So if you have kids that are those ages and you like
a country theme then go-spent the money you will probably enjoy yourself.
Now if by any chance you like food that edible-and I use that term because
people's taste's vary-this is not the place for you. This was the worse meal
I have ever had-EVER; not just the worse Disney meal. Food had grizzle and
was disgusting. Wine and Beer again if you like really really really cheap wine
and beer, then you will probably be able to drink more than 1 cup full.

We attended it last June for my mom's birthday and were VERY disappointed!! We live in a small countrylike town and trust me it was not what we were expecting at all!!
The food was just so-so, more like a home picnic then a western meal. And the entertainment wasn't that great! My dd's did enjoy seeing the characters but it was so crowded they couldn't get close to them so they were very disappointed about that!
Also I have to use an ECV and there's no special places for them so they put us at the end of a table on the far side. But maybe if you've never been to anything western themed you would love it?!:confused3 The desserts were good though!!

Do you remember your first visit to the world? Oh Yeah!

What year was it? 1972

What were your impressions? Absolutely blown away!

Where did you stay? KOA campground on I-4 just outside the entrance

How has WDW changed since your first visit? Cast members not as friendly, prices have gone up a bit, the place has grown slightly, and many many attractions are no longer there...

Glad to hear a positive review. I've read so many mixed ones but decided to book an ADR anyway and make up our own mind. I think this is something that our family will realy enjoy. My girls are going to love being able to get up and dance with the characters.

We did this last year and my kids absolutely loved it. My then 4 year old DD was soaked in sweat - we couldn't get her off the dance floor. We have great video of her dancing with Goofy.

The food was just okay, but my husband appreciated the all you can drink beer, and my DS appreciated the all you can eat frozen mickey bars for dessert (I made him stop after 2)!

I loved it because it was such a unique experience, not the typical character meal. In fact we will be going again one week from today!
