Has anyone tried Mickeys Backyard Barbeque at Fort Wilderness? We are going Aug. 24 - 31 and was thinking about making a PS for this but would like some input on it. We already have PS for breakfast at Crystal Palace and dinner at Chef Mickeys but were thinking about this one.

Thanks for your help!

We have PS for this next Thurs night. However, I am still highly considering cancelling it. It is pretty expensive, which didn't bother me at first.

After hearing alot of reviews, I hear that it is hot and people are sometimes rude - taking other places at the tables, etc.

My 4yo eats like a bird and to spend $25 on her for a meal ? It's too bad because I was really excited about it until I heard from others.

Page 7 of this board (Disney Restaurants)has 2 threads about it, also check the "Camping" board.

We were unable to get PS for Chef Mickeys. We do have a PS for 3:00 on Friday at the Garden Grill for the "Ice Cream Social", which is an ice cream party with the characters. It is only $6.95/person. We have never been, but it sounds like fun. I mean with ice cream and Mickey - sounds great to me. The kids are really excited.

Good Luck!

It is an exelent choice to go tomickeys backyard BBQ. me and my family had a great time there. If you like country music and line daning Its the place for you. me and my famliy are going back this year:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

My family just went in June. There were 18 of us and everyone loved it. Basic food, mac & cheese, great chicken, dessert etc. And the show was so much fun. The character interaction was great, they were visiting tables all night, dancing, posing for pictures, etc. I think you should try it once. If we would have listened to some of the reviews we would have missed a great time.

We went the first part of June this year. Our whole family went (19) from ages 15 months to grand-dad. Everyone (Except the withchie sister-in-law) enjoyed it. I don't remember the food, but others in the family say the ribs were delicious. I just know that to dance and have a great time with my grands was worth the cost. My 6 yo DGS and 6 yo DGD have great pictures of a great time. Now, they were sweating the night away, it was very, very humid. I don't know how the characters do it in those costumes. The interaction with the characters was so much more than I had expected, from posts I had read on the boards.
It was a great time. Don't know if I would do it any later in the year, because of the heat.

I believe I was one of the ones to report a negative post.

We went in May. While the food was good, character interaction wonderful, and the music pretty terrific, it was way too hot and crowded for our family.

We ended up leaving about 1/2 early to get totally bitten while waiting for our boat back to WL.

However, the picture they took and we purchased is my favorite one of the four us.

I am glad we tried it once, but will probably not do it again.

If you like eating outside while it is HOT and you love country music, it is fine. It wasn't for us.

We had our group of 12 in June and tried it. We all felt it was okay food, but very pricey for the type of food served. Also, they lost our group picture (and the night before, they lost our picture taken at Chef Mickeys!!!!) and we were not big on country music, so we did it and now know we don't need to do it again!!!! There were many other places we dined at on this trip we liked much more and the bill was a lot less!!!!

Have been twice! First time was all adult girls trip. We all like to line dance and had a good time. Second time took nieces and nephews they loved watching their aunt dance with goofy!! That being said I am not going this trip. We are doing the Hoop-Dee-Doo (sit down in the air and enjoy the show). I will go back when DGS is old enough to dance the night away though!

I have to agree ... If you like country music and eating in the heat then you will enjoy it.

We did it for the first time two weeks ago. I was awfully hot and sticky. It was way too crowded and way too loud. We left only 45 minutes into the show to go to the MK for some peace and quiet (that should give you an indication how loud it was).

I think if we had tried this at a cooler time of year, we really would have enjoyed it more. I am not sure wewould ever try this again. It was my least favorite. We also went to the Spirit of Aloha show the same week and even though it was just as hot, it definitely didn't feel like it and it was a much more enjoyable time.

Good luck and I hope you enjoy it more than we did.

We did this once & while I don't regret it, I wouldn't choose it again. We enjoyed the Luau much more. The buffet style chicken & ribs were alright, but the heat & humidity made it less that enjoyable after a day at the parks. My DD's did enjoy the line dancing, but it was really too crowded with little kids for the adults to get out there & boot scoot. The character interaction was terrible - we got to spend more time with the characters at Mickey's Toon Town Fair.
