Mickey talking lamp!

I bought one for my son, in November of 2001, I believe it was. I got it in the home shop of DTD. All of a sudden, about a week ago, it just stopped working. We changed the batteries, lightbulb and checked the outlet. It just stopped working!!! I'm pretty sure I don't have the receipt any more. Ugh! An $80 lamp and BAM it stops working!

My son had a Goofy lamp. Stopped talking after about 3 months. Just a plain lamp now.

I had a problem with mine too, it got knocked off the table and that was it. But, we had an electrician friend who found me a fuse for it, and it was just fine....until lightening hit something around our house last night, and blew it up again. Tried changing the fuse, but something else must have happened to it, cause changing the fuse isn't helping it this time.

It may be possible that the voice box recorded thing wore out. That happens sometimes with talking toys and games. The voice part will only be good for X number of uses before it wears out. Although, it will usually say so on the box.

The fuse is inside, you actually have to remove the whole bottom of the lamp. Then, the fuse was soldered in, that is why I had my friend the electrician look at it, and he made it so we could just easily replace the fuse if needed. But whatever happened in the storm last night, really fixed the whole thing for good.

Mine actually wasn't working at all when we changed the fuse, not just not talking, it had completely conked out. I kept the talking part turned off for the most part anyway, so I had plenty of "life" left in the voice part. I may see if my friend will take another look at it and see if something got fried inside, but I'm thinking that maybe Mickey is a goner after last night.
