I'm hoping to take advantage of the nearly deserted Mickey Pool once we first board the ship. Should I take towels in my carryon bag or will there be towels available at the pool before our stateroom is ready?

You can NEVER over plan or be too prepared! I knew you all would understand... :p

We did this on our last cruise. I'm almost postive there are towels at the pool. We didn't bring our own and DS got dry somehow before we went back to the cabin LOL Have fun!

There are towels by the pool. Enjoy that is a great time to enjoy the pool, my girls wore their bathing suit under their dresses, and jump in as quickly as they could, I enjoyed the sun, and watched them. My husband went down to the cabin, and upacked. Life was really good... :cool1:

there's one towel wedged in the lounge chairs...of course if you need more, they are available.

Just a note--on our cruise last summer, we found that there was almost nobody at the pools late on the last evening. I don't know if this happens on most cruises (and during your January cruise I don't know whether it will be warm enough to swim at night), but we had the Mickey pool COMPLETELY to ourselves for nearly an entire hour and there were just a few people in the other pools. The Mickey slide was closed of course but we were having such a great time we didn't mind. We had planned on going to the show but jumped at the opportunity to finally really enjoy the pools.

We were glad there was another chance to enjoy the pools "deserted" since there were thunderstorms on embarkation day and we couldn't swim then.

Hi Mama Crush-
We're on the same cruise and have the same plans to go to the Mickey Pool once onboard. Actually, it will probably be DH and DD5 at the pool while I scramble to make reservations. I will most likely meet them there after the res-scramble and we'll go to eat.

SEE YOU THERE!!!

There were always plenty of towels in the bins. Just look for the big wooden containers around the pool area. There's a little sign posted on them that say's "clean towels", but it's not easy to notice.

We just got back and the weather was wonderful for swimming every day. I'm not positive, but I'm pretty sure that once it got dark (about 5:30-6pm), they closed the Mickey pool completely.

We do do the pools first thing when we board (We try to board near the front of of the boarding line too). I was converting our videos to DVD (Christmas gift - DVD burner - wonderful!) this weekend and realized our kids had more than 30 mininutes in the Mickey pool by themselves before the first additional child arrived. It was almost a full hour before there were a half-dozen. They also wore out the slide (no wait, about 20 times each). Needless to say, the novelty of the Mickey pool was out of their system.

quick time saving tip (haven't read all the replies, so sorry if this is a repeat)

have your kids wear their bathing suits under regular clothes. that way all they have to do is take off the top layer and they are ready to go. let them swim while one of you goes to get lunch and enjoy!

Unfortunantly, on our 12/4/04 cruise it was just too cold for the kids to enjoy the Mickey pool while at Port Canaveral. :( DS was a trooper & stayed in for a few minutes but DD got in & started crying to get out. We kept the kids entertained in the room of a fellow DISer playing hide & seek instead.
