Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway + New Nighttime Shows to open January 27, 2023

Oh, that all looks cool! Pardon me, I need to start planning a trip to SoCal for February or March.... 😁

Wow. I feel like that blog post really buries the lede regarding MMRR. Awesome that it’s going to open Jan 27 even though Toontown won’t reopen until spring. Wonder if it’ll be virtual queue or paid LL or what.

I’m expecting the LL lane to be $LL. Not sure if they will use VQ or just be regular standby to start. At DHS the ride averages a posted 40-70 minute wait typically and is a regular LL offering now but started as $LL.

I don't understand why the reservation calendar is paused for dates beyond Jan 8 and "will resume in the coming weeks."

What's that about? 🤔

I think they wanted it to be a "surprise" so to speak. It's a great ride too so I'm excited for it to be at DL too. I wonder if there will be any changes. I would expect they will use the VQ or LL for it because they will need to manage the traffic to it with Toontown still closed.

Last week, I found a really great hotel deal for that weekend (using a Hilton friends & family discount), thinking I might take a birthday trip to the parks, not at all knowing that this would be announced. So now part of me is like "OH NO! CROWDS!" But the other part of me is like, "good job on that $67/night room" and I do not want to let that go.

I’m guessing based on my convo with an imagineer in the dreams pavilion at the expo that they are going to do previews for MMRR and they need to figure out the allocation of reservations for previews. When WDW did previews for guardians at Epcot back in may they had to retroactively pull the reservations since if you had a preview reserved you didn’t need a reservation just valid park admission.

I feel like I'm in the minority but I absolutely loved MMRR taking over for Great Movie Ride at WDW so I'm glad DLR gets a new ride that's very enjoyable and a reimagining of a land that was looking fairly sad. Also happy the parade people really seemed to like for the small portion of time it was around has finally returned. Now let's get Paint the Night back at CA.

Book Hotel- CHECK!
Book Flight- CHECK!

... I'm home with rebound C19. I was pretty ticked off about it, but now, clearly, it was meant to be so that I could read the announcement and have a hotel booked 30 minutes later. Would have been hard to do that while talking with my patients! :rotfl2:

Honestly I just think they want to raise ticket prices again. I'm thinking the pause in reservations will end when they announce the new ticket prices. They want people booking after those dates to be paying higher prices.

Yeah, I agree. GMR was great, but it was showing its age. It either needed to be spruced up and modernized, or just gutted. MMRR is a really fun ride, so I'm not complaining.

We loved this ride at DW. So happy they are refreshing Toon Town as well. I'll be planning a trip as soon as the whole land opens back up!

Interesting about the paused ressies.

I don't think it's about a price increase, although I'm not ruling one out. In the 'Before Times' many of us would buy tickets 'early' for a future trip if there was the slightest rumor of an increase. It's the same thing, the only difference now is having to wait to make your reservations.

I'd say it has more to do with hotel reservations, park logistics, and staffing for an expected big uptick in the number of people wanting to go to DL once the celebration begins. I think they want to have things 'in place' to be able to rapidly monitor and shift reservation numbers from bucket to bucket based on the demand in different categories (hotel, AP, day tickets).

....all is great except Disney has blocked all park reservations. Keeping fingers crossed they're updated 'soon'

(and get well soon!!)
I'm curious about the reservations as well. I have a magic key but willing to buy a ticket if needed (I'm eligible for a military salute, thankfully). .... but definitely on my radar. Wish I could manage a ressie for a hotel on-site to make a ressie more likely, but that's a hard one to stomach when I've got $113 at Hotel Lulu with a park view! Oh the hurry-up-and-wait!
